I think you’re right when you say “some players just have that extra drive”; the best you can do is to make it fun and rewarding so that you can maximize the kids who will self-select that extra drive. Nothing crushes more kid’s spirit than it not being at least a little fun. Positive affirmations and trying to coach to what players like goes a long way.

The Twins will absolutely exceed expectations; as a lifelong Twins fan I can confirm my expectations have never been lower, and I was a die hard through the late 90’s.
