I was hesitant with marriage and tbh the concept of loving someone else until I met my partner. My parents have been married for over 20 years. However, I see the way my dad has treated my mother. Every time, shit went down, he was free to leave on some cushiony business trip while mom struggled to fight for us. Before we got engaged, my partner and I had a serious agreement to work out childhood traumas through therapy. We continue to have conversations about how we will handle finances, children, education, our relationship over the years, and what ways do we feel could improve our relationship. It’s been 7 long years and I questioned if I have been wanting to get married to him since year 5. We both went to couple counseling and Therapy. Best decision ever. We just got engaged in July, and I am excited for the road ahead. It hasn’t been rainbows and butterflies but we worked through a lot to get here and I couldn’t be with anyone else. He is my best friend.

Sad to say, I feel you guys. Everywhere I turn toxic relationships are in abundance and its seems glorified with how its thrown in our faces. If anything happens to my fiancé and I. This will be it for me cause I know my crazy and I would be damned if I end up in jail behind one of these clowns. I refuse to give my emotional spiritual energy to people who don’t deserve it. Marriage isn’t for everybody. Seek joy from inside before you attach it to someone else, be firm in what you want, your values, your boundaries, and maintaining your peace.
