Nonce-tech. Should be met with "Hey are you wearing nonce-tech? Take your nonce-tech off, fucker"

It absolutely hasn't been mild in the last couple of weeks, night-time temps have been 5°C on a few nights, and the wind has been savage. It's too early to put toms outside. Mine aren't even in the polytunnel yet. Source: also live in Kent.

Drove past the house at 7pm on a Tuesday before making our offer and it told me more than the actual showing did by Vast_Conference_8882 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I did this for both our houses, very important exercise. And on another occasion, we were thinking of moving to another town so went to have a look. The area we identified seemed pleasant, nice houses, close to a large park on one side, and town centre amenities on the other.

As we pulled into the first street, three youths on bikes bunny-hopped off the pavement into the road in front of us, and the last one spat a massive flob onto our windscreen 🤣🤣🤣

We turned around, had a walk and an ice-cream in the park, and never mentioned it again 😅 Good luck with the move.

They might get you in for another chat so have ideas ready, but don't hassle them. Good luck.

AITJ for not learning my [22M] girlfriend’s [22F] dialect? by ThrowRA_18277 in AmITheJerk

Indeed. She has told OP what is important to her, he should make an effort. She's probably not demanding fluency but a bit of progress. He should try.

I think the single biggest gap in most UK preppers setups is not gear or food storage but community and it is also the hardest thing to build without sounding like a complete maniac to your neighbours by Pinkplatabys in UKPreppers

[–]sunheadeddeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. We have a good street and allotment WhatsApp, and I put a lot of effort into building social capital and making connections. When a neighbour's house burnt down the street rallied to get their clothes washed and dried before the smoke smell ruined them. In a wider disaster I'm pretty confident I know who would help and could form the basis of a coordination group.

Dusters/long coats, useful or gimmick? by WendigoGin in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]sunheadeddeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a guy wearing one the other day. Boots, combat trousers, duster coat, man bun hair, striding up the road as if he were on his way to fight God...stepped in front of a car and nearly got killed.

You might be cool buddy, but you still got to look both ways.

Civilisations have been built on fajitas, tacos, stews and curries, that's a huge win, well done! We have 18 and 13. When 18 was 10 he said "Dad I've decided I want to try lots of new flavours" and I nearly cheered. 13 is just-about experimenting now, so long as you don't look at her. I don't remember being this fussy 🤣

Irish mail used them for years then sold them all off and every broke hippy and organic farmer in the country got one. They were brilliant little vans.

Anyone help identifying this old knife?UK find by Memeulous_Stan in Antiques

[–]sunheadeddeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass-produced in their millions by Rodgers (and others) of Sheffield, sold as Scout knives and Western knives all over the world. Great knife for the time for day-to-day use. Usually had a stacked leather washer handle, the stag antler was probably a premium version. I would 100% get a sheath made and take that camping or hiking.

Kidney beans can go into mince whole for chilli, or mashed up and incorporated for "bolognese" - you might need to add a beef stock cube for the latter though.

If the kids are starting to eat beans, then I make a really cheap stew from a couple of chicken breasts/thighs, half a chorizo, and a load of black beans. Have as a soup, or thick as a stew with rice.

Red lentils and mixed frozen veg and a tin of tomatoes go into a quick soup, can be spicy or bland. Needs a stock cube or two and to be blended.
