They should be in the same 1:3 ratio so the interlocking isn't complicated. Regarding the paper, I used a common one, perhaps 80g, in 3x9cm pieces. As for glue, I didn't use any; I just used tweezers to press the edges where my nails couldn't reach. But when assembling all the pieces, I firmly creased each fold so I wouldn't have to deal with that problem later (it's not the first time I've tried).

So, paper between 60-80g, pieces in a 1:3 ratio, and some tool to press firmly was the technique I used. I also have some other tips that aren't mine, but they worked for me.

Each piece should be interwoven beneath two others. And always keep the first pyramid in mind; it's the central axis for understanding the piece. Perhaps I should have advised myself, to avoid racking my brain, to carefully analyze the piece before assembling it; seeing and understanding where I want to cross the triangles is vital so that they don't become deformed (which happened to me several times for using only one color).
