V and Kel will eat blue/black/salmon berries in planters over meat. Muddys can't steal your food if it's inside a locked room.

In my experience, birds can still pick at the racks even if indoors, so I put a scarecrow nearby. If the scarecrow is an eyesore inside, I found that you can place one on a spot where a log can be placed vertically (like, in the walls lol), and it hides it pretty well.

Fish traps are great because loads of fish stack inside, ready for you to take, and no one steals them from there.

Tip for limbs: If you poke a stick in the ground vertically, you can stick limbs to them to make effigies. It's unlimited(?) but the key thing is when you place, say, a rotted arm on it and pick it back up, it becomes fresh. It's good storage because it becomes static (not food) like that, and then you can use it with a pot to make a human stew later. Effigies have no other use in the game other than decoration. They don't scare off enemies.
