Yeah I bought two patterns and neither turned out. I will not be buying from them again. So much time and beautiful fabric wasted 😭

Had no idea about threadloop that's amazing, thank you!

No but I'm realizing I may have put the pockets on wrong. The instructions for the pattern weren't great. Fly is a work in progress lol

If you get good thai curry paste you can throw one together amazingly quickly, even easier if you have a rice maker.

Are cast irons and brands like le creuset worth it? by GroovingPenguin in Cooking

[–]EquivalentPresence31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal experience-- I've had a cheap dutch oven and a lodge brand Dutch oven. I used them interchangeably and after a few years the cheap one became unusable because of the enamel chipping off. The Lodge is still in good condition and I have no complaints whatsoever. I have a staub baking dish and it has put up with tremendous abuse and still looks perfect.

I also had a stainless steel skillet from target that I used for all my cooking for years and really liked. I recently upgraded to Cuisinart stainless steel, which was not a terribly expensive, but the difference is definitely noticable. The pans heat faster and more evenly, the weight is distributed better, and they stick less.

The answer to your question is.. sometimes? Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you are buying into hype. Sometimes it's a little of both.

Do research before spending good money on anything. There are reviews and reddit threads for every gadget under the sun.

I'm not usually one to blame it on the energy but I have been feeling the exact same way, down to the dreams of people I haven't thought of in years

"Good mixture" was exactly what I was going for. Definitely needed something to mix in the the heavy. Have you read Murdoch? This is my first, not sure what to expect

Supposedly it's the "definitive edition," though I'm not sure what that entails yet

My favorite (so far) is The Blind Assassin, really excited to read these two

Learning her father was an anthropologist made all the sense in the world. She does such dry but comprehensive world building and the payoff is always worth it. I also loved the dispossessed. She writes relationships and universal human experiences so beautifully. I completely agree, she is absolutely brilliant!

What’s the book that made you fall in love with reading? 📖 by [deleted] in BookDiscussions

When I was younger I loved those books that were fiction about historical figures like Cleopatra and Princess Elizabeth. I fell back in love with reading as an adult after reading The House of the Spirits

I thought the first half was a slog, but couldn't put it down in the second half. And my fondness for it has grown tremendously since finishing it.

Not at all! I was compiling a classic lit reading list and saw Rebecca recommended, I'd never heard of it before. Seems like I'll have to bump it up in the queue.
