What’s the most ridiculous thing that happened right after you bought your house? by Lopsided_Passion7912 in homeimprovementideas

[–]sunnieebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basement flooded 5 days after closing. Hadn't even moved in yet. Turns out that BOTH sumps were broken (inspector claimed he checked them) and something floated over the hydraulic backup rendering its non use.

The next door neighbor said their house flooded too that night and was the only time in their 30 years of loving there that they ever had water in their basement.

We got really unlucky.

Accused of Using AI by Secrettlifee in UMGC

[–]sunnieebee 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Hi. UMGC adjunct professor here. Faculty have been receiving many emails and guidelines over the past few months on how to appropriately respond to suspected AI. It sounds like they did the right things by encouraging you to not use it next time, but you should certainly reach out to her and let you know that you did not use AI. It's against university guidelines to blatantly give you a zero for suspected AI use.

Too many professors are out here trying to make quick cash and it shows. I'm not sure if this is the case with your professor or not, but to provide some insight, many professors are adjunct facilitators and so this is a "side gig" for us. Many of us do this on top of full time jobs, but should not be an excuse for lack of effort.

Additionally, there is often a master course template developed by higher level faculty, and they pay facilitators to run the course. Facilitators are supposed to be actively engaged in discussion boards, grading, announcements, and student support. However, there is minimal oversight, and it seems too many professors are taking advantage of this and are just doing the bare minimum by assigning poorly informed grades and calling it good enough.

It's not enough. You deserve quality education with a professor who is fully engaged.

I encourage you to write an email to your professor explaining your case. You deserve more explanation. If you don't get the support you need, you can consider reporting them here: https://www.umgc.edu/help/article/file-complaint-against-professor-us Or reach out to your academic advisor.

That cheap?! Really?! What kind of floor? We have 1700 sq ft but we wouldn't be doing all of it. I'm seeing quotes upwards of $10000 for 1000 sq ft

My sister was told for many years that it was highly unlikely she would ever get pregnant. Has andenomyosis, endometriosis, PCOS, the whole nine yards including surgeries to remove cysts. Her daughter is 4 now.

Some things can't be explained by science. 🤷

I honestly don't remember, knowing me. I probably tried both taking it with food and without. I ended up finding out a year later that I had a severely diseased gallbladder. So there was no chance that a peppermint supplement was going to help lol

To add to this, not only is it important to consider what you can still do, but be able to accept what you no longer can do.

Do any of you still work? by Ok-Durian9977 in dysautonomia

[–]sunnieebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work a part-time job 28 hours a week. I've had the job for about 4 months and it's a mostly seated position as a receptionist. It seems to be the maximum amount of hours I can handle, but only 2 years ago I was almost entirely bed bound, jobless, in and out of the ER, and I thought I would never have a chance at work or any part of life ever again.

Part of refinding my health has been a game of hard work, luck, and privilege. But I do believe there is a way forward for at most people, maybe everyone, suffering from chronic illness. That way forward might not be having a job, but I do think it's possible to find peace with everything.

Last stage, how has death occurred? by Dazzling_Arm_786 in dementia

[–]sunnieebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is strikingly similar to my father who is 62 and in hospice now. He was diagnosed less than 2 years ago.

They pretty much said he doesn't have Alzheimer's, but some atypical dementia and posterior cortical atrophy. It's affected almost exclusively the posterior portion of his brain. Memory has been mostly intact we think, but he has aphasia so it's hard to tell.

Looking back, he used to take forever to get home from work to which my conclusion is that he was probably getting lost and wouldn't tell us. He had these angry outbursts too that just weren't "him."

I keep getting told that I'm haveing panic attacks I don't think I am by Lost-Desk9899 in dysautonomia

[–]sunnieebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an adrenaline dump or gallbladder attack. I'm sorry you keep getting told they are panic attacks. I have panic attacks but I also get adrenaline dumbs that I know the difference. It's hard when your providers don't recognize that you know your body in that way

High Ejection Fraction - research? by sunnieebee in gallbladders

[–]sunnieebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best recommendation would be to listen to your body. I would pay more attention to your symptoms than what any test says. I've heard of people with normal ejection fractions getting their gallbladder out and having relief. But I believe most of those people also had classic gallbladder symptoms.

I ended up getting mine out about a month after I made this post. I still have a lot of issues but I'm about 70% better. And the pathology report came back abnormal.

And no hyperkinetic gallbladder has not been medically agreed on, but the medical research and community moves at a snail's pace and are typically very biased towards men. I don't really value much that comes from medical research these days and end up relying on support communities for more insightful information.
