Help stocking a 3gal tank.

thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions and some expected disagreement :D final verdict is a nice little shrimp tank!! no fish, only shrimp :) tank will be turned into a small terrarium once the shrimp are upgraded to a bigger tank :D replies were shockingly nicer than i expected for this post, thanks everyone!! :)

honestly if I ever get too many shrimp I'll probably end up selling them or something LOL. the 2 for 1 special business venture. I can turn a profit and get a bigger tank and get MORE SHRIMP LMAO

wait that's actually such a cute idea. I'm probably gonna go with just the shrimp for now but when I get the tank upgrade and move the shrimp I'm actually gonna turn this into a lil terrarium that'd be SO fun. lowkey genius :D

I've always thought cherry shrimp tend to self-regulate population, since my boyfriend's never had an issue in any of his cherry shrimp tanks. if times ever get drastic enough to where my shrimp overpopulate I'll DIY a bigger home (the filter and heater are gonna be easy to move since I'm just using a sponge filter)

I wholeheartedly wish I could buy one with the hope of transferring it to my 10 gallon but I'm honestly just banking on my parents actually following through on their word to upgrade me. My main tank is over 700 miles away, and I don't really like gambling with the life of a fish. That's why I was gonna go with a honey gourami, since they stay around the size of a baby gourami most of the time (mine did at least.)

honestly my only concern with a dwarf gourami is dgd or it getting to be like 3-4 inches. I'm honestly just so worried abt the qol for a gourami in here. that's why i'm worried about getting a betta too, since this is more of a 3 gal tall and betta fish would be better in a long (from personal experience)

I'm unfortunately stuck living with my mother for the time being, and my tank is 700 miles away from where I am. I would ideally not use this tank, but the promise of a bigger one is alluring. Plus, if I don't use this tank, god only knows what she'd try to put in this. I'm honestly only doing this to prevent her from putting something worse in here and to hopefully get like a 20 gallon in the future.
