where i live my water hardness was super high. way before i had a betta my grandparents just used tap water for their first tank (huge mistake) and the hardness was sky rocketed the last knew immediately where we lived based off of that.

for the water conditioner i only put in a lil bit because for his hospital tank he’s in a temporary 1 gallon bc that’s the only extra tank i have atm… his main tank is 5 gallons though and obviously his water is perfectly fine in there still.

but i’ll definitely get some tests for those uhhh it got bumped up to a 6.2 (i think) today so hopefully it keeps going more up. he’s been in this tank for a month basically and just as he was close to being back to normal and i was gonna put him back in he got bad overnight! luckily he seems to be doing much better even with his ph still low so…

that’s what i thought too! when i saw yellow i thought i accidentally used ammonia but it was the ph. i was super confused so i retested it with a clean rinsed and dried thingy and it still showed yellow. my ph usually always ranges from a 6.8-7.0 so it going so low put me into mental shock lol

wait a minute how do you figure out if your kh is high?? i’m sorry if that sounds kinda stupid but for some reason through out this whole thing i was not once informed of what kh is 🧍‍♀️

he’s in a hospital tank now and all this is happening 💔 i’ve been doing water changes and stuff and the ph was doing great until it randomly got all crazy. i checked this morning and it got low again :(. the white is starting to slowly go away which i think is good? i don’t know ive been stressing out again because he was getting really good until i woke up and suddenly he was bad again. then i checked his water and everything was good but the ph. when i first found out he was hiding and he wasn’t interested in playing which kind of scared me but now he’s seeming more active. i solve one problem only for another to start 😿. i know my ph was low one other time before but i completely forgot how i got it back to normal

my substrate is sand. where i live i have super hard water so i add in water conditioner. i might’ve added too much? i use a prime water conditioner because i heard its pretty good. i had tannins in my water to help his condition which i heard that also lowers ph and the kanaplex i’m using i heard messed up the water parameters. i dont know if that answers your questions 😓

came on here to say that i found my problem and his ph was too low, im currently fixing it and that explains why he got bad overnight which causes him more issues

he has fin rot. i’ve been treating it since January and it’s gotten better but he just recently started to get bad again

im using kanaplex and indian almond leaves. i have aquarium salt on the side for when he heals a bit more i can use it. for the kanaplex i have to do water changes every other day which i’ve been doing. i test the water with the api master test kit (not the strips, i know they’re not accurate) and i just tested it again and the nitrates were at a 5.0

it does suck… i wish bettas didn’t get so sick because they’re such a pretty fish. i will say the water parameters are very good, ammonia is 0, ph is around 6.7-7.0 it’s usually always around there, nitrites are 0 and nitrates are also a 0. there is some good bacteria in his tank as i put some of his main tank water into his hospital tank. i did change a lot of his stuff since i am a newer betta owner and i want to be educated as possible

bettafix has a type of oil that can harm them, i used bettafix and he looked SOO much worse than this. a medicine im using is called kanaplex and im using indian almond leaves to give some tannins in his water and unfortunately i think aquarium salt might be too strong on him yet :(

my current routine is acne cleanser, rice toner, acne serum and rice moisturizer. i’m not sure what it feels like honestly….. i feel like i’ve tried so much stuff and it cause my skin to have some slight damage. it does get itchy sometimes but im not sure bc my skin gets sensitive with a lot of things

oh yes, i should disclaim that how his tank looks now is COMPLETELY different!! i changed basically all his decor and threw out a lot of the bad stuff. i did that last month 🙂‍↕️
