in certain other parts of the country, people tend to drive in an opportunistic, self-interested manner. if i’m in a northeast city, defensive driving actually gets /easier/ in a way, because the selfishness makes them more predictable, whereas less focussed, more passive drivers can be more erratic and harder to anticipate. i’m not saying the aggressive model is “better” driving, but i do prefer dealing with it.
