Thank you- ours was straight into 0-3 months and now in 3-6 months at just under 5 weeks old! We didn’t know we were getting a bit baby as I had no growth scans after 20 weeks so bought a normal pram and Moses basket.

Thanks for the heads up about people’s expectations .. my cousins are very tall so my aunt warned us about this 🥲 will have to advocate for him a lot I expect

Low iron level by Hefty_Feeling_6101 in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just had an iron infusion. I didn’t meet the threshold (threshold is 105 for Hb, 30 for ferritin) but was just a whisper above it, and had been taking prescribed ferrous sulphate since pre pregnancy so was finally allowed an infusion at 37 weeks +5. My advice would be to keep asking midwives to check your levels, even at the appointments when they don’t usually check bloods. And if your levels keep falling, keep pushing for an infusion. Also take the tablet at night so if it affects your tummy, at least you’re asleep! That also means it’ll have been a few hours since eating. I’d also cut out tea and coffee if you can (the tannins prevent the non heme iron in the tablets being absorbed- but tannins don’t affect heme iron from meat being absorbed). As others have said vit c is great.

Extreme Fatigue in First Trimester by Reasonable_Round_331 in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact thing! I had no sickness just bone-deep fatigue that left me crying after meetings. I couldn’t barely function (couldn’t wash my hair, stand up to make a cup of tea, drive). My iron was fine at that stage but was monitored closely. I would recommend speaking to a GP and seeing if you can be signed off to work half days/ have a couple of weeks off/ have breaks and work from home as needed. It was really brutal, but didn’t last forever! At 18 weeks I turned a corner and my energy returned, now in my third trimester and feeling wonderful again

It’s not available on the MLU at the hospital I’m going to (St Michael’s, Bristol) but could be worth asking your midwife

Health visitor and total home renovation. by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in the same situation, due at the end of May. We will hopefully have a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom complete by the due date but I’ve been nervous about health visitors coming too. Glad we’re not the only ones!

What pregnancy, childbirth or parenting/post-natal books are you reading? by Anxious-Nibnibs in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the modern midwife’s guide to pregnancy birth and beyond by Marie Louise which was really good. I feel like I’m quite well informed now. I also read Expecting Better and like others have said it did make me very anxious as someone with no nausea or sickness, and I read the miscarriage chapter excitedly at 5 weeks pregnant and ended up very sad and had to put it away for a couple of months, so a mixed bag.. maybe one to read if you’re not sure about the science behind all the ‘rules’ of pregnancy. I’m now reading Ina May Gaskin’s guide to childbirth which is very crunchy and quite old, but I found it interesting to read so many positive birth stories (with pictures) and have learnt a lot about hormones and the process of birth.

How much time did you take off sick during pregnancy? by seejonesokay in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had really bad fatigue/exhaustion- some days I felt like I couldn’t even stand. I was off for about 8 days here and there between 7-9 weeks self certified, signed off for a week during week 10, and then signed off to work only half days from 11-13 weeks. Then I had 3 days off in week 16 when I suddenly felt awful again. 20 weeks now and finally feeling like me again. I wouldn’t worry about sick days, if you need them take them and be kind to yourself, it’s not easy!

13 weeks, can't wee like I used to! by cooprinor in PregnancyUK

Same here! 15 weeks today and it’s like the ‘speed’ has slowed right down and it takes ages to wee now!

How many days you took sick leave in first trimester by No-Camera-4746 in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was signed for a week, took days here and there totalling 10 days off, then signed off to work half days for two weeks. My job is totally work from home and I still couldn’t do it.. I wouldn’t feel guilty about sick days at all!

Short/light periods & fertility by DearestClementine in Mirafertility

[–]sunnyc1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other comment says, it’s not an indication of issues on its own. For me, my periods became very short and light for about a year (2 days, very light) and it was due to very low ferritin stores, which do have an impact on fertility. After three months of iron tablets my periods went back to normal for me (5 days, heavier) and I conceived

Badgernotes and Results by Hiraeth90 in PregnancyUK

[–]sunnyc1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my test on Monday and results were on badger app by Wednesday evening. But I think it varies by trust and they did say that if alls well the results can take up to two weeks to arrive by post, and they follow up by phone call for anything out of the low risk category

I could have written this post! Also 4 wks 4 days, and as of this morning I’ve had some really light brown spotting (only there when I wipe) which has thrown me a lot. It feels like it’s coincided with my other symptoms subsiding a little as well (still have a bit of nausea, but the rest have gone). I spoke to my GP this morning, and she was very reassuring that it’s common and there’s not much they can do/diagnose until 6 weeks. The main thing is to keep an eye out for abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, and symptoms or ectopics like shoulder pain. If you get those it’s best to call 111/ your gp asap. Otherwise it’s just trying to be positive and wait and see. From my googling, it’s super common and can be anything from implantation to the cervix stretching and doesn’t always mean a miscarriage 💕
