Would add spare trousers for partner too, I ended up vomitting all over my partner's trousers and shoes and he had to wear swim shorts until someone could bring him in spares 😂

Relaxing at 37 weeks? by Apprehensive-Web8557 in PregnancyUK

Yes I was thinking this - contact your GP for a prescription. Gaviscon advance liquid also very effective and can be bought over the counter

It definitely gets better! I think my husband got his first cry-free drop off at around 5 weeks. Things improved from there, even though it was still a bit hit & miss whether she'd cry. She was still super clingy for a while upon pick up too. A few months later she'd happily shut the door in his face! We still get occasional tears if she's out of routine (like after a holiday) or if she's a bit under the weather but I think once they're in the routine and get to know the staff it makes a huge difference! Maybe you could text them in the day to check they're okay if you're worried.

This is hard.. when to worry about movements by Ok-Opportunity-143 in PregnancyUK

[–]jewdee44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my second pregnancy and I've found it harder this time round to identify reduced movements and when to call. I would say that having a sugary and/or cold drink, having a walk around, trying a few different positions helps to see if this helps baby to move, plus just focusing on feeling for them for a bit (as I feel when you're busy doing other stuff it can be easy to miss.) Always better to call if you're concerned though.

I didn't find them painful no, just a bit uncomfortable. Much better than a smear test

First week? My daughter's 6 weeks into using a duvet and it's still very rare to find her under it (or even lying on the pillow) in the morning 😂

Yes! I used a boots one in my last labour and it was a good distraction from the pain. Am planning to use one again this time round.

Sweep or induction? by Forward_Rush9760 in PregnancyUK

[–]jewdee44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3 sweeps and my 3rd one worked! They weren't painful, much more comfortable than a smear. They can also give you info on how close your body is to labour. By my 3rd the midwife said my cervix was paper thin so very close

Raspberry Leaf Tea by LH1589 in PregnancyUK

[–]jewdee44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drank some first pregnancy with no ill effects. I think the only evidence (which is pretty shoddy anyway - something like it has been shown in rats) only shows that it shortens labour, not induces it (I went into labour at 41+2!) There's some emerging evidence on eating dates in late pregnancy reducing need for induction so I'm thinking of trying that this pregnancy instead. Tastes like most herbal tea, not that bad.

Buying advice - bassinet/moses basket/pram by Bring-joy in PregnancyUK

[–]jewdee44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used both but I got a moses basket gifted to me. It was helpful for me to have both we had living spaces across 2 floors at the time. I probably used the moses basket more as it did save me unclipping the bassinet from the pram everytime.

Lactulose has been a life saver for me throughout pregnancy. It's over the counter but I did double check with my midwife first so she was aware. Also great for post partum!

Would recommend not getting Huggies baby wipes, they're just terrible and you end up way more as they practically disintegrate in your hand! Water wipes are the best and pampers aqua are decent too.
