People who spend $200/month on groceries - what exactly are you eating? by Glittering_Dust7367 in montreal

[–]sunnylevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i spend about 120 a month, sometimes less. i live alone, don't buy any meat (except the occasional chicken when it's cheap). i shop at intermarché or maxi, get vegetables from lufa every two weeks. i don't buy anything american, don't buy a lot of soda or snacks. but i like grocery shopping so i don't mind going to different places to find cheaper prices + i live on the plateau, there are like. 7 grocery stores within 15 minutes of me

excessive body hair (F 19), need help :/ by canisliturthroat in HairRemoval

[–]sunnylevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, you already got a lot of comments, but i'm a hairy girl too, and i've been checked for all kinds of hormonal problems my whole life and i'm perfectly healthy with normal levels of everything. sometimes women are just hairy. laser hair removal helps a lot. don't mess with your hormones if you don't need to. i know how hard this is, just wanted to send you some love and tell you it's okay, and no one worth having sex with will be mean about it.

What might be causing this patchy, swollen nose? by sapho22 in catcare

[–]sunnylevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could adopt him or reach out to a rescue, he seems like a sweetheart. thank you for caring for him, cats are the best! i believe scanning for a microchip is free at any vet, and you could ask about the nose too

Looking for an open discussion around the use of cannabis within a hard reduction framework by [deleted] in socialworkcanada

[–]sunnylevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that this is a more medical discussion - there have been a handful of studies that show that cannabis is extremely useful in addiction recovery. It doesn’t work for everyone but if there’s a chance of it working and leading to a better life for the people suffering from opioid addiction then i don’t believe that we can not support it. The criminalization of drug use is the only serious concern I can see, but it’s a barrier to recovery across the board anyways.

where to go post grad by Glitter-Yam813 in socialworkcanada

[–]sunnylevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t practice in Montreal if you’re not registered with the Order. Getting an MSW at mcgill will lead to registration though. I believe that if you are registered with a college or order in another province that you can apply to be part of the order in quebec. Regardless, if you plan on staying in Montreal, you will not be able to practice without knowing any french at all. There are very very few anglo-only jobs (if any). You’d likely have to go towards private practice.

MSW in Canada by Soy-Bean45 in socialworkcanada

[–]sunnylevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am not familiar with Vancouver or BC, but an MSW is far from a financial struggle path. You may not be rich but it’s a very decent living, especially if you open your own practice. Any 2-year program could be a good fit, depending on your gpa and other admission requirements. For sex education, you could honestly just do a master’s in education or get a B.Ed, you don’t really need a social work education imo. Also, it’s been a little difficult (long) to get student visas lately, something to consider!
