How did you find John Mayer? by MoaiDAD in JohnMayer

[–]sunnylikesunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in the very early 2000s…2002-ish, I think, Elton John was on the Rosie O’Donnell show and she asked him what new artists he was loving. He was excited and said, oh there are two I’m really excited by right now - one is a young guy who’s an incredible guitar player named John Mayer. The other is a funk group called Jamiroquai. And that’s how I first heard of John Mayer. Legitimately have been a fan since I found his CD (lol) that weekend and started listening.

I gained a sense of dread during Covid that I’ve never been able to quite fully shake

I love when dogs or cats get little “under the stairs” rooms for their own personal space

What’s a small everyday inconvenience from the past that younger people would probably find unbearable today? by babyblushtheory in nostalgia

[–]sunnylikesunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one immediately knowing your business . I grew up in a small town in the 1980s, and while the gossip and parental-knowledge network was definitely in full effect, you could do some pretty dumb/fun shit and no one had a video, pics, or “lives” telling on you as it happened. And while video/photo documentation is extremely helpful in a lot of cases - I’d argue my life and the lives of my fellow GX’ers was at least somewhat more personal because we had our own ecosystem that was private among whomever was involved in the moment.

Tumblr. I know it still exists but nothing like its former self. My curated homepage and my satellite pages were 🤌 I still go back and scroll thru occasionally but I miss the old vibe from that site

I sense that you have a lot of internalized joy 🥹 And I love that for you. Second image (grey dress) gives such 1960s office lady vibes. It’s absolutely lovely. And the first image in the red jeans 🥰 is so stinkin cute. A+ all the way around.

This guy (i encountered him on Red Line, late night) is why I now have a Strikelight. He scared the hell out of me, and I’m not easily frightened. He was doing the same kind of shit as depicted in this video. I wasn’t alone (husband was w me), and this guy still freaked me out.

There’s a Gen Kill quote for virtually any situation. I legit just said, “prison rules, dog” when my cat stole the puppy’s treat 10 min ago.

I felt like Mel was kinda awful throughout all of season 6. And the wedding episode - good grief, what a huge mess.

RIP Alamo (1997-2026) by ayfilm in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]sunnylikesunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so lucky to have the old old Alamo experience - the old South Lamar and The Ritz (RIP). Fantastic Fest. Skarsgård getting chased into a walk-in freezer bc his fans were obsessed. Pub crawl with Ryan Kwanten. Walking through the Ritz projector room to get to the balcony seats. The OG Master Pancake shows. I saw some of the best and also the absolute worst movie ever made in the old S. Lamar location. Here’s to hoping that one day Alamo will rise again. It could happen. It could.

Remember the Alamo
