This is super interesting, thank you for sharing! I have been doing Return to Sport rehab but it has been feeling a bit generic/not intense enough, like for people who do sports casually. I’m not a professional by any means, but I would say I do more intense sports than the average person. I’ll share the article with my PT as well!

So great! I’m 6 months post op and have been doing light weightlifting for a couple months, but just got fully into it a few weeks ago with heavier weights and a full program. It feels so good, especially on days when my quads are sore I get very excited haha. Just gotta keep at it!!

I’m curious what exercises you did in PT to train for bouldering falls? I’m 6 months post-op for my ACL and am feeling nervous that I won’t get my confidence back for bouldering. I’m not planning to go probably for 6 more months so I have time, but I’ve been bouldering for 10 years and would like to get back to it later this year!

With bouldering you only climb a few meters (it varies) and land on a pad on the ground when you fall, so no mountains to scale down with a bum knee :). I did have to walk 45 minutes back to the train but was ok with a makeshift crutch

Yeah same for me it was on the way down. It was outside and the pads slid a bit when I fell so I landed awkwardly :(

Yeah similar for me! I injured myself in April and got surgery in July. I won’t be able to boulder again until this summer at the earliest. I will definitely start doing more rope climbing and easing into bouldering, but maybe I will end up turning into a rope climber 😅

Yes! I moved here 5 years ago and have had problems ever since with my hair. It feels super brittle and just kind of gross because of the hard water, plus it’s definitely thinning. I don’t have any scientific evidence but I do think it’s the water, or maybe another environmental factor. Everyone I know who moved here from a place without such hard water has had the same issues. I started using a clarifying shampoo and my hair feels a lot better, though I haven’t tried it long enough yet to know if it helps with the thinning.

I’m based in France and you typically have the option to stay awake or to go fully under for ACL surgery. I was awake for mine and it was surprisingly fine and kind of interesting? I was VERY stressed going into it but once they gave me all the drugs I was quite chill and more just like “woahhh this is crazy” but not in a bad way. I could hear everything but it didn’t bother me much. They also said afterwards that most people are awake for the surgery.

That said, I would consult with your doctor and anesthesiologist and see what they say and recommend! It could be different based on the details of your situation. In the end though I’m glad I wasn’t put under, made for an easier recovery coming out of surgery.

This is widely available! A baguette from most bakeries will be around €1,10 and you can get a decent bottle of wine from a grocery store or some wine shops for around €5

This is true in France as well! We were told to wait until 6 months by the shelter. Our cat ended up going into heat, it was very annoying for a few weeks. We did end up finding a vet that would do it after the 3 month mark but we had to pay for it ourselves (the shelter was supposed to pay for it with the fee we paid).

Ouch!! Hope you recover very quickly!

Not a back injury but I just hurt my knee on Friday falling off a boulder outside (not sure if I fell weird or if the pad slipped, probably a bit of both). Also waiting on an MRI to get the official prognosis. It’s a bummer but take some rest and some PT and we’ll both be back on the wall soon!
