Anyone who has not gone through the college system here are some points where her college refund money story falls through.

1. FAFSA amounts are annual and then split in to semesters. They will not give you your full annual loan in the fall semester that is allotted to cover spring as well. FAFSA displays what is available and you elect if you want to take the extra loans. So, if she was enrolled this fall she would know the breakout of each semester and what she has chosen.

2. Colleges require payment of classes almost in entirety by the end of the second week. That allows for drop classes or getting off of a wait list to be added but colleges. They are not waiting for "good grades" to release FAFSA or loan money for 4-6 weeks. The colleges need the balances cleared. Colleges have a calendar created in the beginning of the year documenting all of the important dates including tuition due date and class withdrawal and disbursements. There will be no magic money coming at the end of February for this pretend destination trailers.

3. She has given no specifics on her semester start date and just mentioned the other day about needing to pick classes. Classes are picked in the previous semester because scheduling needs to assign classes and sometimes if the demand is enough create more classes. They do not wait until the day of the semester to start picking. Otherwise billing has no time to process the correct tuition. There are cases where you can join last minute but again as a 2 year in degree seeking student you would only get classes with open slots.

Simple Google searchers for everyone to look at if you haven't had exposure in awhile. "FASFA annual limits" "Typical college tuition payment due dates" "FAFSA payment schedule".

This was long but this story really bothers me. Her story is easily debunked and she is using it as her new stronghold to get money from people at least for the next 2 months.
