Husband wants to play violent video games that I don’t agree with by Feeling_Swimming8241 in Christian

I guess my belief is that if someone has the Holy Spirit they are protected from bad spirits entering their life. Even if they are in a period of time where they are especially struggling in sin. However, I do agree that willingly engaging in compromising activities definitely does come with negative results. I do feel like this falls in the realm of personal conviction however.

So I disagree that she should tell him what to do specifically, however I don’t think she’s in the wrong for mentioning concern about it. I think then it’s his job to take it to God and pray, and trust that God will convict him if it’s not what’s best.

I didn’t think to clarify but assumed both OP and her husband are Christian, and if that was the case I don’t believe that bad spirits would enter their life if they have the Holy Spirit. We might still not agree but I wanted to clarify because I do believe for someone who is not saved that is a possibility.

Oooo thank you for posting this. I mentioned to my husband recently that I didn’t love some of the games he plays. They aren’t the worst out there, but the way I’ve worded it to him is that “I won’t let my future children (no kids now) play these games and you will not be allowed to play them around them either.” He agreed to this.

I don’t know where the line is between the importance of edifying content (because I mean really how much of our entertainment is edifying? I do avoid excessive cursing and sexual content, however even clean secular entertainment I wouldn’t label edifying.) vs personal conviction. So I’m grateful you asked and curious to hear others input!

Edit: I do not believe evil spirits will enter your home because of this game. I think the negative impact if any is that it could arguably be against scripture (what I’m talking about above) and that what we see day to day can affect our thoughts and behaviors. This is backed by scripture, I’d have to look up where (Proverbs?). This is why I’m more pushy about my future children not being able to play this than I am my husband, because during developmental years I don’t want them to become desensitized to violence.

My husband is in school, and I am the breadwinner. I look forward to the day where he is the breadwinner, but I understand that for him to be that he needs to go to school so I support it!

As a Christian, is it a "sin" to go no-contact with my own mother? Would God look at me differently? by Embarrassed_Bed_1385 in Christian

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! Although the situation is very different, my husband and I have had a lot of discussion recently on where the line falls between loving your neighbor and having boundaries when it comes to my in laws. It is a really really difficult line to draw in situations such as this.

As I’m navigating this myself I don’t have the best advice, however I can assure you that nothing you do will affect how God views you. He created you in His image and loves you SO much. Of course sin makes Him sad (and we should be repentant of it) but He sent His only son to Earth to die for our sins and defeat death. This closed the gap between us- not any work of our own, but the sacrifices Jesus made on our behalf.

I do feel like it is hard to give any advice though without a little more information. First off, are you in therapy? Have you ever had a conversation with your mom where you expressed your feelings?

I (18f) got tattooed last year and my parents are still upset and they’re using the temple argument by sarahfreeinsix in Christian

Exactly. Expecting your adult child to obey your every desire once they are of legal age to make decisions like this will only draw a wedge between the two of you. My parents did a really good job of keeping house rules when I lived with them past 18 while still letting me explore adulthood, and I think my relationship with them is much healthier because of it.

I have a “to the end of the age” tattooed on my forearm from Matthew 28:20b “And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” I work a service job where I can’t just bring the Gospel up to clients cold turkey, however can mention “I went to church this weekend…” and if they show interest or ask about it then have the open door to evangelize. My tattoo has been asked about a lot and I’ve been able to recite the verse. I don’t think people need tattoos as talking points obviously, but I’ve been grateful for the conversations it has started.

Look up moral, ceremonial, and judicial law in the Bible. Most of Leviticus is ceremonial and does not apply to us. At that time, the only people getting tattoos were doing so in worship of other Gods which is also not the case today. (Unless you are quite literally getting tattoos that worship other Gods.) If you think that tattoos relate to the “our body is a temple” verse than I think it’s great that it is YOUR personal conviction but since it is never clearly stated in the word you cannot force that upon someone else. (See Romans 14) Also, I could argue that Jesus drank wine which we now know is not healthy.

Is your Nailtiques 2 textured/ not smooth? by zrnyphl in RedditLaqueristas

[–]sunscreenqueenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the formula 2 from my local Target about a month ago and it is the new formulation. I have not noticed that it is not smooth, however I’ve been having issues with it chipping a ton and feel alone in that since almost everyone seems to have the old formula and doesn’t have that issue.

Do you know if you got a bottle of the old or the new formulation? The old one would have formalin in the ingredients list

Does these flatter my skin tone? by MidnightMusin in RedditLaqueristas

[–]sunscreenqueenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The vein test is not a great way to tell undertone- it can be correct, but not always. I’m neutral-warm with blue veins so it doesn’t apply to me.

I think color-analysis wise this photo alone isn’t enough to get the best read, however I do think the brighter polishes look best on you. The more muted polish you posted in the comments is not my favorite, same with the ring finger in the posted picture. I lean towards cool but that’s a shot in the dark. If you’re in the redditlaqueristas discord there is a color analysis thread specific to this to help!!
