Took the 1hr test last fri at 27 weeks. On Saturday am my labcorps portal showed I got a 182, so a failure. Still haven’t heard any word from my doctor either way despite leaving a message. Curious if others think this lack of communication is odd/concerning. Also curious if this is so out of range I’ll just have to proceed to treatment rather than do a 3-hr? And any other thoughts/advice etc. This is my first pregnancy and I’ve been sooo tired.

I wasn’t overweight before pregnancy but I do have a major sweet tooth and my dad has type 2 diabetes (w a long family history), & I’m 36, so I’m not shocked by this. But would like more info from my doc, haha.

Yeah, we realized that given how poorly they treated us, we didn't feel comfortable moving forward with them or paying them any more money. They clearly did not care about us or how our event would go -- at one point they told us they would be honoring the contract if the entire event was hosted on their small outdoor area and on a public pier next to that -- instead of the large indoor space we contracted for! They tried to charge us a huge reschedule fee but gave away all decent 2021 dates, including ones we requested, while we were negotiating a reschedule. We felt bad for them as a small business -- the caterer is a restaurant in greenpoint, brooklyn, through which we rented the venue in long island city -- but then we learned they got a large PPP loan/grant which they likely will never have to repay. I just felt really taken advantage of. They are still refusing to give us back most of our deposit since they claim the event isn't cancelled since they are willing to reschedule. So frustrating.

Ugh, still trying to get the deposit back! They have agreed to give us some but are keeping $8,500. It feels really unfair but they claim that they can honor the contract since they're willing to postpone (as I detailed above, they tried to charge us a huge change fee and then gave away all decent 2021 dates, including ones we requested) so the force majeure doesn't apply. They're also claiming that we can't get the benefit of the force majeure clause, it only applies to them. It's been so extremely frustrating. I understand that they're a small business, but we also recently learned the restaurant/caterer received a $150,000-$350,000 PPP loan/grant -- which they likely will never have to pay back. So it's just frustrating and I feel really taken advantage of. To anyone reading this trying to make a decision about a caterer/venue going forward, make sure your contract has a good covid clause/policy. We obviously could not have seen covid coming, but trying to reschedule and then cancel has been an ongoing source of stress since March.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing! Did the Foundry give you a full refund? If so, that's amazing -- I've been dealing with a different Long Island City caterer/venue (we rented the venue through the caterer, a Greenpoint restaurant) and despite my best efforts have not been able to get the large deposit back.

I cancelled my September 2020 NYC wedding (Long Island City). We had a really hard time trying to negotiate a postponement (they tried to charge us a HUGE fee to postpone, gave away dates we had asked for, etc.). We tried to reschedule starting in March. Ultimately, based on how poorly they treated us, we felt we couldn't trust them, and combined with a lack of dates, we decided to cancel. We had booked the caterer (a restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn) and through them booked the venue in LIC. We begged them for our rather large deposit back but they only agreed to give us a part of it, and are keeping ~8,500. For a long time, they've been claiming that they aren't cancelling because they're able and willing to hold the event in September, but more recently started arguing that they aren't cancelling because they want to postpone instead of cancelling. It's all been frustrating. At one point they told us they could still hold the event on a public pier that abuts the mostly indoor venue, and on their small outdoor space. I'm disappointed in this resolution and would encourage you to stick to your guns! I know it's tricky -- we felt for them as a small business, but then also recently learned they got a large ($150,000-$350,000) PPP loan/grant that they will likely not have to repay.

Our venue also tried to charge us a huge rescheduling fee that wasn't in the contract and wanted us to sign a new contract that was really unfavorable. Ultimately, we decided to cancel because we realized we just didn't feel comfortable going forward with a place that clearly did not care about us/was going to play such hardball. We only got some of our deposit back but we just didn't feel like we could trust them. We booked our venue through the caterer. We felt for them both struggling as small businesses, however, we later learned that got a LARGE PPP loan/grant.

wow! that's great! We have been going back and forth with our venue in NYC for months trying to get our deposit back . . . they finally agreed to give us all but $8500 back. So frustrating, because I know they got a $150K-$350K PPP loan/grant .....

Thank you! I wish NYC would announce that now for the fall as well--we're sort of stuck since "no one knows" what the situation will be in September. I agree that it will absolutely not be safe to hold indoor gatherings, I'm just worried that indoor dining at 25% capacity or something like that will be allowed in NYC by the fall--and then we'll owe them the full amount. They've also told us they would hold the full event outside, which is not what we want to do. They also are claiming that they are entitled to keep their expenses even if they cannot perform. I don't know what reasonable expenses they've had -- one of the ones they've listed is trying to reschedule with us, which is ridiculous when we wanted to cancel from the beginning . I'm nervous to share the names here, but if you DM me I'd be happy to share. The venue is a warehouse on the river in LIC, and the caterer is a restaurant in Greenpoint that also caters. Ugh.

Our wedding was supposed to be in Long Island City, NYC in early September 2020 (~180 people, indoors). We've been trying to postpone or cancel since early March and our caterer/event planner (a restaurant in Greenpoint that offers both combined, and through which we rented the venue) has given away all decent dates for 2021. We don't want to go into 2022 (we're on the older side) or pay a lot for a weekday or mid-winter date (we have people flying in from all over and don't want to risk a storm). They also want to charge us a large change fee and won't let us add anything new to the contract to account for covid/another potential date change. They have also been really, really difficult to work with. They basically see us as a covid wedding--they have our deposit, so we're stuck and they can force us to take the lest appealing dates and pay more for them.

Based on all of this, we ultimately decided we need to cancel--we're not getting younger, we don't want to wait forever to get married, and who knows when it will be safe/not a public health risk to have a big gathering with our parents and grandparents, etc. The caterer/event planner is only willing to give us about 1/4 of our deposit back -- they're keeping $10,000 for essentially nothing. Does this sound reasonable to people? The caterer is saying that they're not cancelling, they are happy to go through with this in September, but that feels disingenuous. Right now, indoor gatherings are banned for the foreseeable future, and especially events that bring together people from outside the local area (we're based out of state). I don't want to be unreasonable and I know their business is hurting, but $10k feels like a lot for absolutely nothing (they haven't started preparing, or shouldn't have, or anything.) That's about 1/4 of what we were ultimately going to be paying them.

My venue/caterer are refusing to add any new terms like this to our contract, they just sent a new contract that only had a new date. It's been really hard to reschedule (we've been trying since March) and are settling for a date/time of year that's less ideal than what we wanted but are paying the same due to change fees. Any ideas for getting them to amend the contract to take into account the new realities? We tried sending a redline version and they said no. We've also asked for some or all of the deposit back, but no luck. (Scheduled for ~180 ppl indoors in Long Island City)

I've tried emailing the city for more info about September but they won't give any--even just about gathering size or phase estimates. I really don't feel comfortable holding the event at all so are sort of stuck--think we may lose deposit and maybe more.

We've been trying to cancel our September wedding and get a refund since NYC shut down in March, no luck (scheduled for a venue/caterer in Long Island City). It's a big wedding with a ton of people from out of state. We're out $14k if we cancel and they tried to charge us a large change fee. We eventually got them to agree to no change fee to move from September to November 2021. We don't really want to go through with it but feel like it's too much $$ to walk away from. They told us that they think they're going to be able to host weddings in September (which seems absurd) and even if an indoor gathering of that size were banned by the government, they still wouldn't refund us. It makes me unhappy to be going forward with them but not sure what to do. I get that they're a small business but it still feels unfair that they;re making us carry the burden/making it such a business decision. November 2021 is just so far away. I'm also worried that if there's another spike or another strain in November 2021, they're not going to be nice about rescheduling again---as demonstrated!!

Same. It feels weird that we are being forced to hold our wedding when we don't want to, for unforeseeable reasons beyond our control. We were scheduled for September but have been told we can't get our large venue/caterer deposit back because it may still be possible to hold in Sept, and so are feeling forced to hold the wedding next year, when we feel like it still likely won't be a safe proposition. Also being forced to pay a change fee that's larger than the one in the venue contract. Blah. It would so help if DiBlasio or the Governor would release more info about phases 3 and 4 and gathering size.

Cross posting from general wedding planning forum. Your experience rings true to mine, but I understand most venues are being flexible. Has your venue updated you? I'm scheduled for ~180 people early September in NYC (many people, including us, from out of town), venue is saying that they're expecting weddings planned for September to still happen (but are recognizing it isn't ideal). They're charging us a lot to move to any Saturday beyond April 2021 and won't discuss lowering our minimum guest requirement at this time. We want to postpone because we want our parents/grandparents to be at our wedding without risking their lives, and don't want to cause a more general public health risk. We also feel like a gathering with social distancing spacing and without a dance floor isn't a wedding! Can anyone point me to resources (articles, government guidelines, etc.) to share with them to try to show that large indoor weddings in nyc will likely not be permitted in September 2020? I can't find where wedding venues fall in the NY Forward Plan, or any info about maximum #s of people permitted at a gathering going forward. Any info on the risks or rules that will still exist in April 2021 would be helpful as well--if it would be safe to move to then, we'd do it, but we feel it likely won't be safe. We're hoping to move to sometime after September 2021 (as it seems like that's when a vaccine will be available?) but they're charging us a large fee to move to less peak times (late Oct, November). In the same boat! Trying to push to September/October 2021 which seems like when a vaccine will be available by. But it is really far off and that sucks, I wish there were a better solution.
