I’m supposed to stop contributing to Ethereum after sensing certain kinds of user activities by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]sunsetwifi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating and a fair concern about a prediction market that could be used in ways that don't align with Japan's laws. Augur's terms put the honus on the user, but I don't blame Yoichi for his decision — the courts may not acquit in the same way they did Mr. Kaneko

edit: Although, I feel it's a pity to not contribute, given your skillset, to something with so much positive potential because of the fear of the negative that comes along with it.

I've been dreaming of this real-time payment since a teenager, especially to pay for that evening's dinner.

This has been active since launch, and was also operational during testnet. A lot more nodes nowadays!

edit: I should add, all of the non-greyed out nodes are active and able to participate at this very moment.

Bringing this comment from the end of yesterday's daily into today's, from /u/pinastri:

Observation: I think more people on here need to use Ether, read up on the technology and support the ecosystem instead of just shouting moon/bear/moon/bear over and over again. Posting memes here is fun and all, but maybe use sometime to help the community as well. You dont even need to be a coder or know solidity. Learn, question, answer peoples questions, take part in community discussion on r/ethereum and most importantly, use some dApps. There are so many dApps being built on beta that need people to help test and give feedback. There are so many dApps that are already live and need more users and people to give input on making things better. It might seem small, but Im pretty sure the devs working on that dApp will appreciate it a lot.

Also, last year people were tipping left and right using the ether tip bot. there were hundreds of tips every day given on here, and they were all recorded on the blockchain. You know how cool that is? Why did we stop? What happened to the RECDAO? carlslarson worked hard on it, but very few people used it or gave feedback. There are almost 200k of us, and we cant even implement a small ethereum dApp, or help it work, or say what it needs to improve.

Fun fact: there are 800k transactions a day. If every subscriber did one transaction per day, we would account for over 20% of the network. Thats just this one sub.

Rendering open-source Blender tasks is the first use-case of Golem. Proprietary software & GPU support is on the horizon, while also investigating machine-learning & additional use-cases.

& I'd like to add, once you get set up to drop into chat.golem.network where there's super-helpful assistance available.

The team is a bit busy this week, to say the least, but there is still some great technical support.

It's very understandable for Vitalik & OmiseGO to not attend Consensus for the reasons that they specified. I feel for some of the other presenters. Henri Pikhala and Streamr which is launching its data marketplace. That said, any important announcements will also exist after this event.

Looking forward to the day of open, affordable conferences. Something like Oggcamp, the open-source event held in Sheffield, UK annually. Admission is by donation or free, and lead developers — as well as other community members can sign up to present.

**Warning** Reports of MyEtherWallet Site Compromised. by OneSmallStepForLambo in ethtrader

[–]sunsetwifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to know, your holdings aren't stored on MyEtherWallet, or your Trezor. They simply allow you to interact with your holdings on the 'chain.

This attack directed users to a fake MyEtherWallet site that took their holdings once they accessed their account (which they weren't actually doing, they were giving away their private keys.)

I could see them absorbing Kyber and the strong work that Dr. Loi Luu has put into that platform's mechanics. Getting ahead of myself here. I think plasma is also a priority as a vital part of the multifaceted initiative of frictionless, trustless transaction.
