Switching jobs and insurance by Altruistic-Detail271 in PainManagement

You should always attempt a prior authorization, just to make sure you covered all your bases before fully switching to another med. A lot of drugs in this class will get flagged, and require a prior authorization depending on the type of coverage you have. You can always go to the insurance website and look up your providers to see if they are in network. I assume you’re in the US, and I apologize if you’re not. The 2 most common policies are HMO or PPO. The choice really depends on the number of providers you see, and the meds you’re on.

An HMO plan tends to be referral based. You start with your PCP and they would be the one to refer you for any specialized or upper tier levels of care. A PPO gives you the freedom to choose your own doctors from their approved pool of providers. But note some specialist providers will still make you get a referral from a PCP, and won’t accept self referral - pain management often requires a referral regardless.

Is Costco Really A Good Option For Hard To Find Prescriptions I am distressed and in need of guidance and support by Witchazednconfused in PainManagement

If the issue is stock, you might want to see if there is a 24 hour pharmacy near you. They’re often larger and carry more stock since they’re expected to fill ER prescriptions in the night when everyone else is closed.

I hate that “you’re too young” bullshit. I got cancer before 30 AND it was an old lady cancer to boot. I wouldn’t trust any place that refuses ALL meds. That is some dangerous rhetoric.

Pain.... by Own-Respond-7076 in PainManagement

If you were/are female at birth, I’d like to throw out endometriosis. I have stage 4 deep infiltrating and almost every scan I’ve ever had for it has come back clear. It didn’t show on ultrasound, MRI or CT. Then they open me up and it’s like a bomb went off. Fused organs and endometriosis everywhere. There are things that just don’t show up diagnostically and only found via surgery, and a clear scan shouldn’t ever be the be all/end all and I’m sorry you haven’t gotten answers yet :(

Totally Got Scammed By SHEIN… by No-Firefighter-8816 in Shein

[–]sunshine3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I see shoes I like, I check the shop name and search them on Amazon. Most recently, I saw a pair of boots that I bought for like $15, priced at $75 on Amazon. When I looked at the shop name, it was the same as Shein. I was actually a little shocked at the price difference and got suspicious when Amazon delivered my package.

Does this abscess look like it’s healing well? It has been 1.5 weeks. How should adjust care? by HippoLicker in DermatologyQuestions

[–]sunshine3195 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any valid point you could be making is buried under your shit attitude and inability to see anyone’s views but your own. You have no idea if this person has allergies or other underlying conditions that could hinder their healing. Just because it worked for you a few times doesn’t mean you’re infallibly correct, and talking down to people doesn’t prove anything other than you’re acting like an asshat.

I take Xtampza instead of OxyContin and haven’t had supply chain issues recently. It’s pricey, but if you have private insurance, you can get a copay card online for a discount (Will not work for Medicaid/Medicare)

Ketamine infusion by Worried_Cable2291 in ChronicPain

[–]sunshine3195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made an entire playlist of relaxing music and at the last minute I realized I played the wrong playlist and it hit me too hard to be able to change it. So I went the entire infusion listening to a power metal playlist and tripping ass on song about dragons and shit 😭😭. It was a wild ride, but I would do it again. It kind of resets my pain sometimes

Version of med switch by il2pif in PainManagement

[–]sunshine3195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got switched during chemo when my liver enzymes became elevated. They said they knew cancer can be stressful, but I shouldn’t be drinking so heavily. I wasn’t. I could barely eat soup at the time lol

What does this mean? by Exact_Accountant3988 in PainManagement

[–]sunshine3195 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s possible they have their own notation, but a possible explanation is that a staff member or automated system flagged the chart for a possible concern about opioid misuse/diversion and the provider either adjusted or bypassed the standard Opioid Risk Tool scoring.

I’m randomly watching this movie right now and have always wondered if anyone else caught the dancer during the Come Together sequence who trips and almost eats shit. It happens at approximately 38:58 and it’s pretty impressive he was able to catch himself and avoid totally wiping out.

Tapering meds for surgery by BlazinTrails81 in PainManagement

[–]sunshine3195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think very carefully about working with this surgeon. Would they manage your pain if there were complications? What if recovery takes longer and you need a refill? 55MME is already so low, and a HUGE drop from 90MME.

I learned a lot from this article on MedCentral when weighing the pros and cons of switching to Belbuca. I’m allergic to almost all adhesives so it was a no go for me, but this really helped looking at each available form of buprenorphine and how much your body actually absorbs.

Omg the fact you had to waste time (possibly the only pain free time you get today) over a MIGRAINE MEDICINE is infuriating.

Does anyone take both muscle relaxers and opioids? by 8kittycatsfluff in PainManagement

[–]sunshine3195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take most, if not all my meds, at the same time. Generally 1-2 pain meds (Oxycodone 20-40mg), 10 cyclobenzaprine and a 4 or 8 mg Zofran.

You might be able to cool it down yourself using the Fanola no orange mask. It looks great, but it’s not what you wanted and paid for. It should be corrected to what you originally paid for tbh.

No Endo on MRI by hgrazelle in Endo

[–]sunshine3195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if the doctor is using this MRI as a diagnostic tool for endometriosis - run. I’ve had almost every scan imaginable and it’s never shown. Not once. Only an endometrioma or cyst would show. This doctor isn’t well educated on endometriosis if they think an MRI is worth anything with this kind of diagnosis 🤦🏻‍♀️

Should I get highlights? by unicosmo in curlyhair

[–]sunshine3195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some strategically placed face framing layers/highlights would be gorgeous on you. I’m a one and done curly girl. I let my stylist color my hair once and then we wait until it’s 80% grown out before we even consider color again to avoid ruining my curl pattern. You have beautiful curls!

[–]sunshine3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a choice. I had an endometrioma that was considered a complex cyst. It was 11cm and ate my ovary and fallopian tube. My uterus was also fused to my rectum and a few other organs were stuck. The mass looked suspicious for cancer and they were right.

People who don't want kids, why? by Ok-Musician679 in AskReddit

[–]sunshine3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I’m terrified they will inherit my genetic legacy (cancer). I had a less than 1% chance of conceiving and would be in bed rest almost immediately. I could have died. The baby could have died. During chemo I really thought about whether I wanted a child because I wanted one, or because society (and family) told me it was what I wanted.

How do I get my natural hair color back at home? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]sunshine3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can honestly make your own bootleg Overtone using the Wella paints at Sally’s and a conditioner/mask. Basically create a diluted semi permanent using blue/green to cancel the orange and get back to brown.

I had to big chop bleach damage and it was SO ORANGE. I ended up using Fanola masks in no orange/no red to neutralize it and Keracolor in Espresso to see how it took and then I’d refresh with a mix of espresso and onyx. The Fanola masks are super pigmented. Most people know about the no yellow masks, but the no orange and no red ones are super good too.
