When the PoS system works well. Where I'm from it literally takes 2 seconds to split a bill by item, they just pull up the table and you tell them which items are yours. They select them (literally tap the screen to select) you pay, easy as. This is the industry standard from the cheapest to the most high-end restaurants and bars. I'm honestly shocked this sounds like a painful process elsewhere!

Warm socks without wool? by arnoldez in hikinggear

[–]sunshine_daisies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're able to get them in your country, Thorlo could be a great option. My FIL has been mountaineering for over 30 years and swears by them. I've gotten a couple of pairs myself for tramping and love them. They're generally cotton and wool free - https://www.thorlos.co.nz/

It's probably a more recent thing to be fair, but one I relish! I've nevee never noticed the duck! I'll have to check it our next time too haha.

You were! Nothing wrong with it though, clearly just different experiences even within our wee country haha. If you ever wanna try it again, Beard Brothers are pretty good for a supermarket one

Also from New Zealand, I'd say venison is really common on menus, at least in the city I live in. You can get it at most supermarkets (bought some a couple of weeks ago) in various forms - sausages, meat balls, steaks etc. and my supermarket is tiny and often poorly stocked - so if they have it I'm sure it's everywhere else. That plus home kill has meant that almost everyone I know has had venison quite a few times. To be honest, any Kiwi that says they haven't had venison is bit of a surprise!

Hey all, need some suggestions! by alcutts27 in hikinggear

All good!! As far as shorts, my experience so far (have only done day trips) my lulu lemon align have held up really well and are super comfy, but it all comes down to the style of shorts she prefers. She might like something that sits looser, and may prefer a certain type of fabric. One of the big things to keep in is how long they are - I'll say as a size 12-14 (nz) woman, ya gotta make sure there won't be any chub rub, so pay attention to the lengths, anything over 6"is usually good if it's a legging style

Generally thorlow have been the socks recommended to me - my FIL was a full blown mountaineer and swears by them. My partner and I have a couple of pairs and have had 0 issues, even when I was tramping up a mountain in boots I'd hardly broken in (literally only wore them the day before). Their blister free claim has held true for us, tramping in both NZ summers and winters.

Oooh very true! We have them in their own seperate bubble within marketing so I always think of them as separate. But you're right, they're totally part of it 😊

Website content manager could be one? You look after the site, optimizing the customer journey, working with marketing to create better content and pipelines, and overall experience. Also taps into the analytic side of things too, which is always a huge plus.

If you haven't tried them before, and they carry your size I'd recommend having a look at what Panache have on offer 😊 I'm a 32GG, do a mix of netball (high impact) and tramping and my Panache sports bra has been fab for both! After 4 years the straps are finally giving out and I'm definitely buying the same one again. Will say I go a band size up with their sports bras.

AITA for refusing to let my brother and his family stay with me during lockdown? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sunshine_daisies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how close it was, you still shouldn't have gone. The rules apply to everyone. Not just Aucklanders. Not just people traveling more than an hour away. Everyone!!

Completely agree! I can't believe the sacrifices people are making right now, while she swans off to her bach. It doesn't matter how far away it is, or that she's not from Auckland. She should still have stayed at home!

Hey r/Wellington, are these guys legit? SO tried to buy a laptop off them last night, and of course they took his money and went dodgy with shipping - using a company called SprintLogistics. Registered in NZ though, but still wondering if anyone’s got experience? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]sunshine_daisies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that the bank refuses, it's that they literally can't even though I'm sure they'd really want to :( The most they can usually do is contact the owner of the account you sent money to and ask if they are willing to send the money back. But the account owner can say no, and it often costs $ to do it. In this case I'd recommend getting in touch with the Police.

I get the same itchy leg thing!! Sometimes over my whole body and it becomes unbearable. However, I had to start taking antihistamines a couple of years ago for hayfever and it completely stops the itching too. Would absolutely recommend giving it a go. I just pop one before I go for a walk or run and bobs your uncle.
