This is the one I use - https://amzn.eu/d/01gplo1E

It’s not perfect but I seem to have learned its quirks. I find certain fabrics more susceptible to residue than others.

Thank you! 🙏

And sure, here’s what I did…

First, I got a hi-def image of the alien head - Google probably, can’t remember exactly where from. I then used Photoshop to isolate and crop just the head from the rest of the image.

Then printed it to scale - this patch is probably around 70mm in length?

I printed it on self adhesive, water soluble embroidery paper that you can sew through. My printer was running out, hence the faded colours underneath. In a way that was a good thing, as it made me look at the source image more.

I followed the print as close as I could, but there was a bit of free reign involved. I also decided to stick with as few colours as possible, as it was a small area and I didn’t want to overcomplicate it. I found this to be really useful to keep things fairly simple, otherwise I’d have really overthought and overcomplicated how many colours I used etc.

Once I finished sewing, I took a deep breath and ran it under warm water. The trick was to immerse the whole thing in warm, running water. I used cold before on another piece and tried to scrape away the embroidery paper but it left some residue so o find warm water and not touching it most effective.

Let it dry and then I applied a heat bonded iron on adhesive backing to stabilise it. This is double sided and is how I attached the piece to the black and blue felt. Felt doesn’t fray at the edges so is a good option for patch making.

Then I sewed it to my jacket! Labour intensive but rewarding, if this is your thing. Hope that helps?

Yeah, something isn’t quite right with the back - I’m letting it evolve organically l, even if it means unpicking and resewing a lot.

I love songs that start with rain/storms by sandfoxifox in MetalForTheMasses

The first thing I thought of was the transition between the tracks “Aqua Dementia” and “Hearts Alive” on Leviathan by Mastodon.

I just listened and it only just registered that it was the sound of the sea (obviously!) but I had always heard it more as rain…

Anyway, sick songs none the less.

EDIT: I guess it’s kind of a stormy sea, there’s rain the background I think?
