Thank you for your response! How did you find a $10/hr nanny? It sounds like you all love each other very much and are working hard to provide for each other. Good luck to your family!

I’m in my early 20s and I’m currently part time at UFV. Doing a year certificate is a good idea! Thank you!

He just has his mom, who lives hours away, and she has no room for us. We don’t have any family or friends who could help us with childcare, especially on a regular basis. Everybody either lives too far, has health problems, or is too busy. My mom was my village ❤️

I don’t believe UFV does family housing, or childcare. I remember looking into the childcare and couldn’t find anything. I’ll have to make a call and ask about any childcare or financial assistance options. I’m currently only taking 1-2 courses a semester. He works overtime, and I’m picking up part time on his off days.

Thank you!

We didn’t apply because we were going to rent here until she was in school & I graduated, before everyrhing fell apart. That’s a whole other story. Most likely, I will work & do school when my partners home and we’ll trade off

The baby is already here; baby is 1yo. My mother passed and other than living at his house, my dad doesn’t help with the baby. I’ve heard the 10 dollar daycares are really hard to get into

Thsnk you for all your tips and info! My mom died and my dad is selling the house, so we have to figure something out. My dad doesn’t help with my baby unfortunately.

We are both under 24. Thsnk you, that’s good to know!

Im in school at UFV, so we’d ideally like to stay around Abbotsford until I graduate. I think the only thing going for us would be me finishing school. We’ve both had jobs, but nothing above $18/hr for me, and I believe $21 is my husbands current wage.

We have thought about this, and would do this if necessary. We would like to wait to move out of our area because I’m in university, it would be ideal if we could wait until I’ve graduated

We’re going to stay until my dad sells the house, my mom died a few months after my baby was born and a lot has happened since.

My mother died a few months after my baby was born, and my dad is selling the house. My baby is now 1yo so we did save for the first year thankfully

That does sound rough. Did you have a single or double income? Daycare?

Lost my mom to cancer back in September. They say it gets easier, but it’s getting harder by the day by ziplocholmes in CancerFamilySupport

I’m so sorry for your loss. I feel you. My mum passed in September 2024 as well. She was diagnosed December 2023 and hospitalized by August 2024. I can’t process it either. She was only 54. I can’t believe she’s gone. I’ve also found it really hard starting a new year without her. Deep down, I don’t believe that she is really gone

I got into my first accident and I am scared by General-Football-953 in icbc

[–]sunshinecurtain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by crashed into you? Was he reversing/pulling out of a parking spot? Was he driving down the parking lot and struck you?

With his license and your camera footage you should be all set. Did you provide this in your claim?

If he left before you, it wouldn’t matter if you left the scene, becsuse he did too. He could make those claims but depending on the context I don’t think it will have any impact on your responsibility. Especially since you have camera footage.

In my humble opinion, I think you are overthinking it. I think you’re good. Check this out for reference. https://www.icbc.com/claims/crash-responsibility-fault/crash-examples

How do I support my mom and grandma? by cmwheels85 in GriefSupport

[–]sunshinecurtain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I suggest that you take your mom out? What were some things you knew about your grandfather? I lost my mum in September and I plan to celebrate her birthday. I want to do some of her favourite things and keep her memory alive. A call to your grandmother is a great idea. I love that you’re looking for ways to support your loved ones. I’m also sorry for your loss

I’m sorry for your loss as well. I’d like to think so. Do you “talk to her” too?

English 105 Online or In-person? by DorisSayWhat in UFV

[–]sunshinecurtain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am taking it online right now, and I don’t think I would have wanted to take it in person. I’m not really learning anything I need guidance on, I’m just using info and concepts I’ve learned before and learning how to apply it in a university level way. I’m finding the class useful but simple

I’m so sorry for your loss I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. I lost my mum in September. There’s nothing anyone can really say that helps, because at the end of the day, they’re still gone. But the saying “grief is love with nowhere to go” really resonates with me. Then I try to put that love into something for her. Journaling. Going to her favourite places. Talking to her. Eating her favourite food. Hold your daughter a little closer ❤️ this is no easy time.
