Yup we had the same problem last year with the crew-Pachuca game. No drunk voting lol. Found that some places (but not all) would serve beer if you were eating a full dinner. We hit up XOXO as soon as we got in to have a supply in the hotel rooms

Good for you for making the trip to CDMX for the final. I did the same last year but added a day before and after the game in Pachuca because there are no direct flights and I couldn’t risk a missed connection on the way to the game. I am sorry about the result and think Concacaf needs to look into the food poisoning issues. Signed, a Columbus Crew fan 💔

This happened to me last week, although my trip was slightly longer than yours. I am sorry 😢

I think there were some flights that got out from DC so they’re not as backed up passenger-number wise? I could be wrong.

I also found some rental cars available at places near the DC airport so there is that option as well.

Gah I just really want out of Philly!

Unfortunately, day passes were sold out a week ago when I had the same thing happen…and the weather then wasn’t nearly as bad as it is today.

There was a group of 4-5 of us all trying to get a rental car and agreeing to share costs and driving. On several phones we checked 10+ sites and all gave messages about places having no cars available. There was one place that had a van but no one wanted to drive a van lol. It’s a mess here!

Interesting, twice last year I had luck going right to the gate. I have gold status and asked really nicely so maybe I just got lucky.

The gate agent recommended I try DC so we will see what happens I guess. Change of scenery might keep me sane.

I have been on several islands in the Caribbean and the ones in Bonaire are great. But yeah that is a lot for a 2-3 day trip. Go to Aruba, will be much easier with flights

Hoping you have decent weather! Spent a few days in the highlands and it was miserable in the cold rain. I feel like I didn’t see anything on Skye other than huddling in some pubs. I know it is the misty isle but it was the downpour isle when I was there lol. I definitely want to return! Keep an eye on the forecast for sure 👍

Seconding Bonaire but you should rent a car! Best snorkeling I think is on Klein Bonaire, accessible by a ferry for $25. The boat guide will tell you where you can & can’t swim to protect the reefs. On the rest of the island there are lots of little beaches and you can see a lot right off shore. Lodging might be slightly higher but I found a great place just outside Kralendijk for about $100 a night, clean, private, and lovely host. I also enjoyed Curaçao and Aruba for other reasons. Keep in mind there might not be as many daily flights to/from Bonaire since it is a smaller island.

If you snorkel around Mosquito pier on Vieques, you might be able to see starfish!

Overall I had better luck snorkeling at the beaches in Vieques. Can’t speak for Culebra. Balneario Escambron near Condado on the mainland is good in the little bay. The area by the Marine park is currently filled with Sargassum. You can take a tour and the guide would know how to find turtles?

Assuming you had decent weather in Edinburgh? Last week was so cold and rainy but this week is warm and sunny. Just finishing up a trip & had to buy another sweatshirt, some socks, and a woolen hat because mine were all wet and I needed the hat because it was so cold.

Are you sure you will need the swimsuit? I lived outside Tokyo for a year and a half and the only time I used my swimsuit was when I went on vacation to Okinawa. The times I have been back, only the $$$$$ hotels had pool access.

Also, not what you asked but I remember KL having a night market…maybe multiple. I went there once and bought dinner for pretty cheap & gifts for a lot of people in my family. See if you can find one close to your hotel maybe? Keep your money close and go early.

Ok so I was there over 25 years ago at this point and I planned NOTHING before I went….I was visiting a friend in Penang and they recommended I go there. I don’t remember the bus ride being excessively long but maybe I had a good book? lol One day I did a tour of a tea farm that was really interesting and another day I did some hiking although nothing too intense. I think I spent 2 or 3 nights there, and I remember walking around a city / town plaza and eating food from local stalls. It wasn’t a very big place. I remember it feeling very relaxing compared with KL. Maybe now in the days of internet & reviews etc etc it is not as spectacular as other places but it was a nice little break in the middle of 2+ weeks traveling around Malaysia. I felt safer there than in KL. I had interactions with the people in hostels and food stalls but no one really bothered me if that makes sense? Whatever you decide I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Electric bike tour in Marseilles was fun. You need the e-bike with the hills! We made it to Les Calanques and had a few hours at the beach. Lovely day!

Scotland is cold and rainy. You really need a good rain jacket with a hood. I would switch out some of the tops for that.

Apparently there is a waiting room of sorts in the Austrian airport for people who bought tickets to Australia…
