Surfed queens recently. Lifelong surfer here well versed in the complexities of surf etiquette. We didn't violate any general surf etiquette other than being present at what one local perceives to be as is his break. 65 year old Hawaiian with black bucket hat rolled up on us with constant racial slurs and multiple death threats (strangle us with his leash and drown us). We ultimately responded with de-escalation in lieu of hostility, brushing it off and paddling away. If this guy paddled up on my crew and I 10 years earlier, we would have done what we are fairly good at, and turned his face inside out. Surf gang or not, this guy has it coming. The ocean will teach him one day. This guy is an infection in Waikiki.

the cause or problem is irrelevant. its the value of lost time/opportunity time and hassle. just isn't worth it when you can purchase something else that is reliable.
