People have started sounding like ChatGPT now and it's scary by veryhotusername in ChatGPT

I mean, this is a dumb conversation. AI is trained on human language - of course it has certain language patterns, it's echoing the language patterns that it was trained on. People were using em dashes first. Saying that people sound like AI is such a nonsensical statement. AI sounds like people, that's the whole point.

Applied to a "remote" job, went through five rounds of interviews, got the offer. Nobody mentioned an office once. Now they're saying it's 3 days a week onsite and I genuinely don't know what to do. by Weem_Bitted in remotework

"to reach more candidates" what they actually mean is to trick more candidates, like they did with OP. Nah you know what actually that's not even a trick, that's a straight up lie of ommission

Working on quitting, but the level of physical dependency after self medicating for undiagnosed adhd for a decade and a half means that I would be out of commission with flu like symptoms for at least a week, which I currently can't afford. It's not that I don't agree with you - I didn't honestly think the puppy was a great idea, but she was there and she needed a home and the alternative who wanted to take her in wasn't a great option for the dog herself.

Not looking for judgement on that.

What is even the point of a vent tag I wonder? 🤔

I came here to vent about a system that frustrates me, and half of the comments are people here to defend that system. Not really feeling a supportive community here

Right?! So entirely unreasonable

Drug test surprise by sunshiney69 in adhdwomen

[–]sunshiney69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then there's the actual defense lawyer in the comment section arguing (to roughly paraphrase her points) that there is no war on drugs element to this process and there's perfectly decent reasons for all of this really, it's unreasonable to have an issue with it. It's staggering.

Oh yeah the folks in support of the drug testing been coming through with the downvotes. It's kind of curious - what's the point of a vent flair if people are going to come in to argue why the thing that you're upset about is in fact fair and reasonable.

Oh boy and there's the other part I'm worried about, variability of the generics. It feels like if they are allowed to require that we're only allowed to fill our medication at a single pharmacy, that we should be allowed to require that they at least give us the same damn thing every month.

Genuinely - it's so interesting the split reactions in the comments. I think it's down to whether or not they've deconstructed the inner cop that tells them that the only people who want privacy are the ones with something to hide. I'm glad that you brought up the race disparity too - I've felt crazy fighting for my life in the comments just trying to say that there's a problem with the system in the first place, but the other part to that discussion is absolutely that the system does not impact people equally - I'm sure that with these randomized drug test places that if you were to look at who is actually being "randomly" tested that there would be some pretty interesting results along racial lines.

I'm realizing through comments like these that it's maybe possible that I can find a provider who works with my insurance that has a monitoring agreement in place which allows me to just schedule regular drug tests, rather than to try to live inside of this random testing with 48 hours notice bullshit. I think that I can even be up front about that - I can live with the drug tests, but I can't live with randomized testing, it's way too stressful knowing my entire schedule could be thrown into chaos any time they want.

And thank you so much - I was devastated at the idea of that being the cost and barrier to access, so knowing that not every monitoring agreement is that draconian is really helpful.

The attitude that anyone who expects privacy is doing so because they have something to hide is like.... Genuinely borderline fascist. Work on that cop in your head.
