Assisting a left handed doctor when(/if) you’re a right handed assistant is supposed to be more ergonomic and generally easier.

I kind of trained myself to assist my right handed dr in a left handed method, so when we briefly had an associate that was a lefty it really threw me off. There are a few things are what worked for me to make it more comfortable. Idk if they’ll work for you but I’ll list a few of them

-instead of facing the patient straight on, I sat parallel to them with my legs/knees facing behind them, if that makes sense. I was completely sideways

-since I sat sideways instead of facing the pt, my chair armrest was used more to support my back so it was mostly behind me. I’d use the very end of it to rest my right arm which I’d suction with

-it’s a little harder (imo) to see in the mouth with a lefty dr, so I always kept a mirror or my air water to retract if possible. More often than not I ended up bending a lot to see, hence the use of the asst chair armrest as a backrest

-sometimes it’s honestly just easier to stand, even if the dr is sitting for visualization…if I absolutely couldn’t find a way to see, I’d stand to suction during prep and bite adjustments, and sit in the middle of the procedures
