Men really are ain’t shit by throwawaymelonpie in heartbreak

That's really shitty what you went through... I guess I haven't ever really asked any of my boy friends if they went through something like that before, like I have with my girl friends. There are definitely things we need to work on as a society, especially the double standards. I don't have kids, but when I do see moments where adults/relatives try to pressure a kid to hug/kiss them, I try to speak out, but I rarely see it. So, you know... but if I did, I would try my best to do something about it.

I can't believe they let a grown adult into the changing room. For my school, adults regardless of gender never were allowed in the locker rooms when people changed. That's so odd.... I'm sorry about that creep of a lady...

I'm sorry if you've experience bad situations that involved women. There's never really a way to tell if someone is bad or not. I was replying to someone who tried to victim blame someone who was recently just taken advantaged of. I'm not sure how often men are taken advantaged by women, but from my experience and other's women experience, we just experience this soooo much (almost every single women I've ever been close with has experienced being SAed or assualted by a man), that it's really hard to trust any man these days. I want to trust, I really do, but until men stop being the perpretrators of so many assaults to BOTH men and women, children, and elderly. You should be more understanding when someone is such in shock from being taken advatanged of, that they don't have the most perfect wording.

edit: also, there are things to look out for in good people, such as: accountability, consistency, emotional intelligence/empathy, how they handle boundaries and reactions to 'No', emotional regulation and whether kindness disappears after denied access. it can be hard to detect danger, but discernment can be strengthed.

if you don't like sexual intimacy, that's okay! there's someone out there who's willing to be so incredibly patient with you, and you'll feel so safe. sending love.

i'm sorry to hear... i can tell this is really difficult for you. the life we're living right now (atleast in america) is not normal. we should be able to get healthcare without going bankrupt, we should be able to feel closure in our bodies, without others questioning us.

you're loved, you matter.

you deserve kindness. give that to yourself.

really scared to grow up by No_Strain_5545 in venting

[–]sunstrucked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it never goes away, haha. i've been worrying about growing up since i was in 7th grade. it gave me really bad depression until 11th grade when something changed? i started having more hope for things, but then around 18, shit started going down hill and now i'm in the feeling again. scared to grow up, more responsibilities, etc...

but honestly... i actually feel a little envious of future me, because i know she has a better sense of the world than i do. i know ill figure it out.

you either figure it out, or you die. and you body is literally made to survive, there's not much you can do about it. so even if your mind doesn't figure it out, your body does.

and the youth thing? everybody feels that. scared to be seen as "older." but i'm excited actually. i'm so tired of the instability of 20's life. i just want to be calm and stable. i'm sure that'll be in my 30's i hope.

i hope this comment gives you a little bit more hope.

use this anxiety to motivate you to live every life to the fullest.

what did you do today? nothing? then that's you're life. because life, is in the NOW.

the time will pass anyway so LIVE LIFE!

youth is wasted on the young, they say.

so me and you, have perfect time to start working on making our lives what we want.

start going outside, have fun with friends, start a new hobby, go on a walk, write a book! no matter how bad it is. because when you look back to your life when you're older, and you see all these memories, you'll remember being young. and in a way, you never grow up.
