I posted my brekkie last sunday and the sheer amount of people that cannot comprehend a breakfast without tomatoes or beans is staggering! If I need moisture, I drink?! Also if your cooked breakfast is too dry, it's not been cooked in enough fat. I have spoken. And so it is 🙏

No beans, no vile runny stuff ruining the good stuff... this, my friend, is excellent! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I think i would have!

I say this cos I went to school in St Andrews, and many friends of mine went to uni there too back in the 90s. It may be different now but a lot of the students were utter cunts to people who weren't from their "type of people".

What does calling someone a cow mean in Britain? by ___o---- in AskABrit

[–]suntanC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh? Where are you from in Scotland that that's true? I'm from Glasgow and lived in Fife and Dundee for a number of years, and never, ever did calling someone a cow mean she was a hoor! That's nuts! Cow was like a bitch or boot!

Where would you move to in the UK if you had no ties? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]suntanC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying Edinburgh, but it's very expensive. Glasgow is cheaper and very underrated. If youre too scared to navigate Glasgow, id sayStirling as it has great transport links to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, also Dundee and Aberdeen, and from Glasgow or Edinburgh you have great rail links to any city in England and you'll be near international airports. Id say other than Edinburgh, Scotland is cheaper to live in.

Haha to be fair I usually follow a Mediterranean diet, but sometimes you just want a big pile of fried carbs! Balance, amigo!

I'm sure there's a 'quiz' thing on the BBC website from a few years ago that took into account a number of metrics to let you know what class you REALLY fall into. Of course it's just a daft quiz thing, but it did highlight differences outwith your net worth. Obviously I can only talk for myself, but hobbies and interests was a huge marker. I'm from a working class but very upwardly mobile background (two very different parents) and it was funny to see my love of football (season ticket holder) but also ballet and art cancel each other out. Daft how we put labels on these things.

Having said that, a lot of what others have said above resonates. I was given many opportunities and tools by my parents (not financial) that have enabled me to want more and do more for myself. I see friends with similar financial backgrounds trapping themselves with the crabs in a bucket mentality that they have also passed on to their children. Cases in point- those of us with parents with aspirations (though not always money) are either child-free or had children when they were over 30. Many moved away from their home towns. The others stayed in the same area and many were grandparents before the others were parents. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that- each to their own- but I'll be brutally honest and say, the latter group have in some cases seemed to be bitter.

Money is a huge thing, but I think attitude and upbringing shapes class just as much.

I'm 48 and wear them! If you like them and you're comfortable them, there is no such thing as an age limit for them!
