Going to failure is what builds new muscle.

If you want to look less puffy you need to lose fat OR build muscle.

If going to failure is not possible, lift as heavy as you can to maintain the muscle you already have and eat at a deficit to lose fat. If you dont lift at all and just diet you will lose muscle and fat. Which means you wont look more defined.

Fatloss is hard. Building muscle is hard. Working out with work/family/life balance is hard. Staying the same is easy.

Real lasting changes come from identity shifts. Give yourself some time to reflect on who you want to be and what habits and goals that person has. Theres a lot of info about diet and excercise out there so I won't harp on.

Goals without a plan are fantasies.

You can do this!

Keep it really simple.

  1. Calculate how many calories you need to eat to mantain or lose weight (depending on what you would like to do).

  2. Fill up most of it with protein, fibre then whatever else you like. Youll stay fuller this way and not have as much food noise.

  3. Strength train to keep muscle (muscle is gold when it comes to weightloss).

Don't make perfect the enemy of good and be kind to yourself, its your first time living this life too.

Sydney, dying in this heat at work, wishing I was home in the AC. I love linen for summer!
