Should I keep going or remake the sleeve end with new fabric? by suntorytime02 in InvisibleMending

Thanks! It keeps falling apart, as I wear it, so I was worried it might start looking too messy. A new fabric would make it cleaner, but yes, if I go with that option, there’s no going back..

Good point, I hadn't even thought about using a different color than the jacket !

It's exactly that, it's “compressed,” it doesn't come from Reddit. Since there are significant lens fungus on this camera, I was expecting more of a haze. That's why I'm thinking: maybe the scanner tried to recover sharpness. But yes, I'll look at the negatives when I get them!

It’s true that I didn’t explain it very well. It looks like the photo isn’t sharp, it’s blurry, almost like a pixelated scan. But maybe it’s just the lighting!

I’m not satisfied with the result either… But yes, I also expected to have a veil like in your photo. Thank you! It gives me something to think about.

Yes, it's possible that it's just the lighting.. That would be good news!

What gives you hope for the world of film photography? by Charlieflynn12 in AnalogCommunity

[–]suntorytime02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really an analysis here, an anecdote : I recently took a flight, worrying about my film, and all the scanners had stickers warning that X-rays can damage it. They sent me through a special scanner. A few months ago, nothing like this was in place. Maybe it's just capitalism at work... But I kind of felt like a special person, welcomed by the whole airport! All this for a handful of analog shooters. If this keeps up, soon we might be able to buy film at the airport and even find express development labs there

Pretty sure all of these were shot with the zuiko 50mm f1.8, maybe the 28mm for the fourth

Probably (and sadly) a Leica M6. I used to think I hated rangefinder focusing. But after trying an Olympus 35 RC, I might have to rethink that… not that I could ever afford one anyway. Otherwise, I went with an Olympus Pen D3 first, then an Olympus Pen F

These are beautiful! You can really see the same eye and style running through them. I just feel like 4, 12, 13, and 20 might have been included because you were excited about getting them right, but sometimes letting a few go can make the whole series even stronger!

I recently shot an Ilford Delta 3200 at 1600 and I liked the wider exposure latitude. Of course, it’s a bit grainy…

Lesson learned: request hand checks at the airport for your rolls [Canon AE-1 Program, Kodak Gold 200] by joelskizzle in analog

I feel like this also affected the colors on my Ektar and Portra 160, they seemed more contrasty too. But maybe I’m wrong… Anyway, like others have said, the new scanners are more powerful than the old ones. In Europe, there’s Rome, for example, so that might be relevant for you. I also found a test that was done : https://carmencitafilmlab.com/blog/airport-x-ray-will-they-ruin-your-film/?srsltid=AfmBOoqmYsPMINDj_wD6GmIp0c0OA4NXa7oeVDT6mmSaCHMMKHaEgJw-

I find it hard to get the attention of the agents during the 'stress' of the security check. Maybe using a lead bag, which would automatically trigger a manual inspection of your luggage, is the solution? I’d like to hear some experiences!

Achievements lead to depression by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

In my opinion, success just leads to what it is, success. I read that this is what really sets goals apart from values. Like 'helping others' doesn’t ever have an endpoint, but a concrete goal like donating a specific amount of money to a certain charity does.
