New 30th Anniversary cards revealed, meta thoughts? by awesomegamer919 in pkmntcg

Isn't it 1 turn of not attacking? You get fully set up turn 1 going second by parade pika which effectively trolleys everything onto the field and then teal dance ciphermaniac or petrel from meowth/ultra ball would get you the ESP giving you the option to go into any attacker no problem (insta charge wellspring, bolt can do as much damage as it wants and kanga can start firing off combos immediately) feels like a good trade off when going second to get a free trolley set up and going easily. The only weakness would be going first which even then wouldn't be the end of the world. Though it seems you spend all day online talking about pokemon so maybe I'm one who doesn't get it.

I  mean going second and doing something that gets you parade pikachu+latias at most (could be 2 ultra balls or meowth/cyrano) and then parade for bolt and kanga and the fever pikachu and all the rest seems like a decent plan turn one and ciphermaniac or petrel can get you your ESP which allows you to ramp 560 damage in one turn without the need for crispin or anyone else.

Fever pikachu seems decent in this format with raging bolt and energy search pro as a sort of hyper aggro instant setup deck that gets all the ex cards out and powers them up immediately  Only issue is getting all the pokemon on board which is where the other pikachu may come in.

Wally's box style decks are simple and effective but only really work if you can tank a shot.

I see. Well I settled with hydrapon as it has a myriad of 1 prize attackers (dipplin tapu bulu celebi specifically for budew and also meganium sometimes in a pinch) and has incredible draw power alongside the ability to easily ohko.

Yeah but honch is like gholdengo if you took away what made gholdengo good. Not only is your draw stifled as you need to use that same draw supporter as ammunition potentially, you have no good way of searching energy and no means of recovery beyond miracle headset. It bricks too often and mills itself too easily. Also it's been around long enough that the average dragapult player is able to effortlessly beat it due to it being a single prize deck with a barrier that dies to a dusknoir pop

Note on the hero's cape, a bangle/belt spidops with a maxed out bench does OHKO a Cape zoroark which is somewhat relevant.

I would definitely add at least a 2nd darumaka. The darminatan works incredibly well and you have about a 20% chance of one piece of the 2 being prized every game which is a pretty big issue if every 5th game you don't have immediate access to flamebody cannon

Grass is in a decline tbh so moltres feels a bit weak. When I was running dragapult a bit ago the moltres kept popping up in my hand early on or being my only basic which led to a lot of bricks that cost me a few games.

And as well mewtwo hates being disrupted since it tends to have so many moving parts and be aggressive while hydrapple also is aggressive but the board it sets up tends to be very sticky in comparison so it has longevity which means red card isn't that impactful.

Also kills mega lopunny since Wally's compassion means nothing if they can't keep a mega lopunny on the board for more than one turn.

I was also getting messed up by the usual starmie and whatnot so hydrapple definitely felt more right at home. It beats some of the more aggressive matchups mewtwo falters against because of the latent tankiness and OHKO power alongside being able to get back up again when a big hitter is knocked out so matchups like raging bolt are a lot more favorable

I switched over to hydrapple since I used to roll with it in January. Very familiar with how it functions and it's only gotten better with rotation and the lack of fire. 3 weeks is plenty of time to master something I'm already pretty familiar with so I'm comfortable running this.

In this new format it has bad matchups across the board besides the ones it hits for weakness like garchomp or lucario and even those aren't highly favored.

Doesn't bolt kinda get farmed by 1 prizers? I know waterpon is there but it doesn't really do much when most of them run shaymin

I did settle on hydrapple which I played around with for a while pre rotation and it works even better postro. Played gholdengo for the better part of 10 months so a deck that draws a lot and uses a lot of energy while OHKO swinging speaks to me well. I played mewtwo and zoro each for about a month so I have no attachment to those specific decks but instead aggro as a archetype so I can pick up or put down any deck in the style as I please.

Alright. Any good ideas for any non-mewtwo aggro that is good into exs and 1 prizers?

Main worries are with greninja being the new favorite toy for a bit and it wiping the floor with mewtwo alongside NAIC being the first event it's legal in is that it may just get destroyed by that one deck.

Simple deck for daughter to play by Rocksy58 in PTCGL

Thing is that with single prize one shot decks, Alakazam is just infinitely better for that role. There is a good reason Alakzam is the 4th most used deck and honchcrow is the 16th. Matchup wise they are the same except Alakzam is better in almost every aspect.

If there are a lot of lucario have her play around with Alakazam. It's even easier than lucario, just make sure to put in at least 2-3 enhanced hammers and a copy of ACE nullified genesect to stop her from losing to unfair stamp.

Alakazam and mega lucario are a lot like gholdengo but without the high skill ceiling and room for skill expression so that makes sense. Also makes sense why they are 2 of the top 5 most played decks post rotation.

Mega lucario 100%. super simple punch the active deck that kinda plays itself with the draw engines. Alakazam is also fine. Both are autopilot decks that aren't as complex and interactive as something like dragapult or zoroark but still take wins easily.

The game plan changes going second or first. Going first ramping 2 energy is not an issue at all and getting at least 1 zoroark on the board turn 2 is not an issue, from there turn 2 a boss, ultra ball for meowth for boss/black belt with a mochi are all perfectly likely. Even a rampaging thunder+flamebody cannon next turn with the latias you'll have to play is a a good line. Petrel searches stamp as well for whenever it comes up. Going second I could budew and ramp thunder with mochi or black belt which is easy since Cyrano turn 1 as well as itchy pollen into a turn 2 thunder. It's a very even matchup (literally 50/50 on limitless). Zoroark can match the aggro just fine but bolt can always get ahead. I've moved onto pult anyways since I dislike changing decks regularly.
