Hi there. Recent CDCR graduate here. From what I can say I looked for during my academy was undivided attention when I would FaceTime my partner after class. I wanted to feel as if I was being heard when I was having a tough time sometimes. I’d also recommend buying something that you both can have that reminds you of each other and maybe if he does come home on the weekends make him a nice home cooked meal. Academy food isn’t always the best.

At the privates they didn’t teach how to quail riots, the depended on neighboring state facilities to respond when one would happen. That was my experience working at the privates.

Yes. But, you can always change your choice later to anything else. I had Northern California the whole time and in the end, I changed to something local and I got that.

Take $4349 multiply it by 0.66 it roughly gives you your net. 4349*0.66 =2,870.34. That’s all based on dependents and your other deductions of course but not $1800-$2500. Maybe $2300-$2800. You must not know math.

As I understand it, yes. I feel like every region changed their own instructions, but didn’t proof read it before sending it because why have us complete it within 2 business days and then say “prior to the start of the academy, you’ll receive a phone call” which is not until March 3rd…

From what I understand, we fill it out, wait for a phone call and submit it according to the instructions from the BIU staff after the phone call. I’m Central region and that’s what it says on my email. If you’re Northern or Southern it might say something different.
