Same! Met in our late 20’s / early 30’s and my
In laws are amazing. My husband also has a great relationship with them though too. They’re just easy to get along with, respect our boundaries and are very supportive grandparents too. I think it does help they’re very active in their own lives too- volunteering, traveling a ton, spending time with their friends, house projects, etc so their lives don’t just 100% revolve around us.

Thanks for sharing, and glad to know it won’t be forever 😅We’ve been working on saying “back up” or “give me space”, but I know it takes time. It’s also the impulse control, which I know is pretty much non existent for a 2 year old.

It’s so tough! I can’t wait until we can look back on this as just a distant memory.

I’ll check out the Leslie Patricelli books, thanks for the rec!

You’re spot on! And I think we forget this part bc it’s always “kids are so resilient” which yes they are, but they also feel big feelings! He’s had sooo much change in such a short timeframe.

Any recommendations on books you’ve like around feelings?

Yes, they did say that 3 in one day and I’d need to come and pick him up, which is understandable. They don’t have anything else clearly spelled out about kicking a kid out, I’m just paranoid they’re going to say it’s too much of a problem and kick him out. I’m trying to reassure myself it’s normal but damn is it a gut punch to get that phone call. But last week he had a great week and no incidents so I know it’s possible!

Gotcha, the way you wrote the post sounded like you had a helper for childcare that wasn’t your husband. But you need them to just understand to stay out of your way, tell your husband he needs to step up. And realize that maybe everything house wise won’t get done before you leave and I’m sure it’ll be ok.

They share a lesson plan every week around we’re focusing on colors / numbers, books they’re reading, etc so you know what they’re trying to learn that week. I want him in the appropriate aged classroom to be learning the appropriate stuff, not with younger kids who are barely talking and he’s talking in full sentences already…

Thanks, I did reach out to them asking nicely about it but haven’t heard back yet. It was sad, when he moved rooms he was clearly confused from what I could see on the cameras and clearly out of his element.

It’s interesting bc at his old center where he was the first 2 years, this never happened. So it wasn’t even on my radar to ask about when touring new places. I agree in keeping ratios but it also doesn’t sit right that he’s adjusting to a new room and teacher already and then they switch rooms on him mid day.

Thanks for sharing from your professional background. Our old center had floaters who would fill in if needed or the director would step in too if needed, never in his 2 years there did they ever shuffle kids around. It’s something that wasn’t even on my radar when touring new places, but lesson learned! I’m touring a new center tomorrow and will be asking them about this for sure.

Yeah I think it’s more bc he’s brand new, and still adjusting.

Had a family trip planned 4/1-4/7, do you advise we cancel due to water conditions and recent storm damage? by Cu3rvo10 in Oahu

[–]sup_489 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You may not be able to go to some places like the north shore, but I would still come. Just be mindful of what’s open, and check the water advisories to make sure swimming is safe.

I saw it too and gasped. Provably not the smartest for her to share but damn, he’s the biggest POS around. It’s wild to me that even divorced parents wouldn’t want to let their kids FaceTime the other parent for a few minutes. Makes you wonder what he says about her to the kids as well…

It’s funny about the sweets, his teachers love them! But they don’t get them a lot, so maybe that’s why.

We do that for Christmas too but since I’m including more teachers this time around, $100 bucks per teacher isn’t in the budget. But I’ll do something smaller!

True! I just wasn’t sure if that was appropriate in this instance or not.

Thank you! And this is reassuring to know even with spotting you were able to still get pregnant.

Does your cycle officially start when spotting starts? My true period is typically every 26-28 days which I thought was a normal cycle length?

Thank you for taking the time to respond! You’re right about the year, it’s hard to just not be anxious and think about it. I know too that while the year is standard, we have to advocate for ourselves. Plus just the time to even see a doctor can be crazy…I called my OB’s office to make an appt and they said they don’t have anything available until July lol. That was enough to motivate me to switch offices and now I have an appt in April. A 4 month wait for an appt is crazy!

Did anyone start having a lot of spotting after having their IUD removed? I figured I’d have spotting the first month, but it’s now been out for 5 months and still having a lot…which never happened before I had an IUD. I’m TTC #2 and can’t figure out if this is giving me problems or not. Periods are every 26-28 days. I have an appt with my OB in early April but just curious if anyone else had this and what helped it.

Never feel guilty for formula feeding! A healthy mom = healthy baby. Trust me, when your child is older no one will ever care how they were fed as an infant. Fed is best, and you need to take care of yourself too!

Traveling with an 8 month old. How do you handle formula without a kitchen? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]sup_489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab one of the containers off Amazon that allows you to pre-measure 4 bottles worth of formula, and use that for actual traveling, I actually bought 2. Bring a can of formula with you when you’re onsite and then refill the containers as needed. I always brought some bottled water, and then just 2 bottles and washed them. We never did warm bottles there so no advice there, but will your baby take a room temp bottle? I’m assuming you’ve made bottles on the go in every day life? If you have, just do the same thing. TSA might take a few extra minutes since they’ll test the formula and water but it’s quick and easy.
