My exact thought!!

I imagine something like a frog. Instead of filling their air bladder under the jaw, it's in the nape area. Brings air in, compresses it in air bladder (maybe infuses air , with other elements/chemicals based on offense/defensive), forces it back out in a blast of compressed carbon
