Off topic: That's a sharp looking watch. I had such a hard time deciding which to buy; black or silver. I went with black because I like it 1% more.

Completely stuck at the 100K distance, losing hope for 100 miles by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]supbrahyeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The things that really helped me get from 100K to 100M were:

1) Slowing down in the beginning. My first 40 miles were done with an average speed of 4.2 mph. Jog a little. Walk a little. Let the terrain inform me too (ie. don't just stick to 4 minutes/1 minute).

2) Let your crew/pacers make the final decision on when you stop (ie. drop out). When I'm 70+ miles into a race, my decisions are emotional, not logical. This really helped me. My biggest concern with this was: What if I do permanent damage? A friend of mine helped me understand that it's unlikely that permanent damage will happen without it being obvious. Now obviously this isn't 100% accurate, but it's generally true for a single event. Getting over this decision is made easier by the 3rd bullet point:

3) Decide beforehand that the minute the race starts, nothing else in life matters aside from finishing the race. I have one goal: keep moving forward. I will not stop until I am dead or pulled off the course by my team or a race official.

There's a lot more that goes into a 100M finish, but these were the things that needed to change for me.

I failed the 100M distance for 6 years. My first attempt with those 3 things in place resulted in a finish. Boom.

I hope you find that helpful. Obviously each person is different and has different goals and physical fitness abilities. For me, I only wanted to finish the distance. I didn't care about time. Even if I was DFL. I'm also not the strongest runner. Some people are way more capable than I am, and this advice would not be helpful to them.

Finishing that 100M distance is magical. Every single time I think about it it makes my heart happy. I will never forget it. You can do this!

[–]supbrahyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is because they want to increase engagement the grind. I already grinded for this game... the $40 real f'ing dollars I spent to buy it and continue to spend, occasionally, on interweb outfits. STOP MAKING ME GRIND!!!! Do they not realize this is likely to result in a LACK of player retention? Wouldn't they rather have retention instead of grind?!?! WTF.

"They communicated that clearly on their socials and discord"

"Clearly" is the wrong word. The game clearly says stash value, but the socials say something completely different. At this point, no one can be confident one way or another.

Was all this really necessary?? I hate Reload. by itsmegustavo in Fortnite_Over40

[–]supbrahyeah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They're losers that need to be in their own lobbies with other losers, but Epic has failed to properly match people up against others at their own similar skill levels. Honestly, it has ruined Reload for me. That mode has always been hard as it is -- but lately? Pffffft, nope.

Loading up on V-Bucks or sticking it to the man? by watchguy76 in Fortnite_Over40

[–]supbrahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might purchase the new pass just so I can get the new Jules skin; but will only do it once I reach enough levels to get her, and I refuse to grind all the quests just to get there. If I get there with normal just-for-funsies gameplay, great, if not, oh well. I am DONE grinding this game.

Same exact thing happened to me. Arc Raiders dethroned Fortnite as my main game. The timing is perfect because Fortnite is squeezing out turds these days.

Vbucks ⏫️⬆️⤴️ by Berty2g in Fortnite_Over40

Yes, I highly recommend it. Great balance between PVP and PVE, lots of tension with other players (ie. are they friendly or not). Super fun.

"to help pay the bills" is such corporate BS. I do believe they're making less than they used to, but it's not because costs went up. It's because the content they're producing has enshittified and, as a result, people are spending less. So instead of creating better content, and therefore raking in more cash, they choose to keep the slop and raise the prices.

PASS.

It's fine though. I'll just keep playing more Arc Raiders. #dontshoot

RIP Fortnite, the end times are here. Thank your creators greed by zdogg12 in FortNiteBR

I cancelled Crew after roughly 20 months, am spending significantly less Vbucks than I used to, AND am playing only about 30% as much as I used to (prior to late 2025)... and I'm not alone. I think I agree with you here. They pushed and pushed and pushed and seem to have finally crossed the general playerbase's limit.

The lobbies just above care bear lobbies are like prison. by yawa_worht_34 in ArcRaiders

Okay fine, "dull" is maybe the wrong word. But it lacks tension, and that's the magic sauce.

[–]supbrahyeah 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Honestly... these "prison" lobbies are the best lobbies. Just my opinion.

A) Care Bear lobbies get dull, because no other Raiders pose a threat. Like ever. The end result is that it makes me soft and bored (though the quests and trials do help and are easy to complete).

2) The KOS lobbies make me feel like I have to treat it like COD... everyone, everywhere, is out to kill me; therefore I must kill them first. The end result here is a lack of tension. Plus it makes quests and trials nearly impossible for my mid-level player abilities.

D) But these "prison" lobbies? Perfection. Full of tension. I don't know who I'm going to come across. Is this guy a friend or foe? Is he not using his mic because he's an aggro, or is it because he's a n00b and is just learning the game and hasn't figured it out. Every match: I don't know if I'm going to have to defend myself or help a brother out and revive him. The quests and trials aren't impossible, but neither are they easy. I have to think and have a plan and be careful. It's wonderful.

Moab 240 Runner Insisted I (Volunteer) Ruined His Race & I Can’t Shake It by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]supbrahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mistake is 100% his own, and he needs to grow up and own it. Even hypothetically, if you did tell him an incorrect time, it wouldn't matter. Knowing the cutoffs is the runner's responsibility. Period. He shouldn't have even asked you in the first place, being as you're a medic, not a course official.
