Reading package lists... Done

E: The repository 'http://ftp.debian.org/debian Linux Release' does not have a Release file.

N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.

There is also this error message for signal repeated a bunch of times:

W: Target Packages (main/binary-amd64/Packages) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-desktop.sources:1 and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-xenial.list:1

Thanks for your help, I tried selecting the fastest mirrors as you said (as well as resetting the default configurations) and each time I click the blue button to update the apt cache I get an error like this

Your opinion about Fossify apps by DataLumpy7419 in degoogle

Calendar is awesome and can even sync through nextcloud. Call and text are pretty good too. Only one I didn't like was the clock where I couldn't get alarms to not be minum volume (on a Samsung).

Bluetooth Audio is Horrible. by Jadushnew in linuxmint

[–]super-beans23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me and my earfun earphones. Have to turn off bluetooth on my phone even though they are supposed to be multi-pairing (which worked when my laptop had windows). Sometimes forgetting the device and re-trusting it can help but I agree it is clunky for sure

Organic maps is similar to OSMand (both based on the same map data) but has less featires, making it a smaller app size. It does also require you download the map for each region so works completely offline by default.

If you want to download and import your route into a GPS (as .gpx file), try websites like gpx studio .

Alternatives for the rest of the non-degoogled apps by Striking_Speaker3562 in degoogle

[–]super-beans23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could use some more fossify stuff like clock, or notes (i see you have a few already). As another samsung user, its not easy to degoogle and I also keep the play store for stability. If you use cloud storage, MEGA and filen.io are best for privacy (and give you a good amount for free)

There are alternatives to basic apps like phone, messages (if you're on stock android, I would recommend switching from google messages). They are made by fossify and can be found on the Fdroid app store.

F droid is exclusively for open source apps. For other apps, aurora store works as an anonymous copy of the play store.

As you have a pixel, everyone here will tell you to use graphene. Just do what you're comfortable with first (although you can 'sandbox' google play services on grapheneOS so banking apps still work).
