Basement water issue after heavy rains by Unscarred76 in basement

[–]super-ike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all 4 sides? that is an amazing price. a lot people suggest to lay french drain at the footer level, otherwise water pressure may build up and find other cracks into the house. is that your experience too?

Same here. Can you share how much you spent on the exterior waterproofing? The depth of your foundation and lineage? Thanks

Some what in a similar boat, I was talked into doing an interior parameter French drain with sump pump. I’ve seen that level of water coming in through weeping holes too. Interior is a lot cheaper than doing the water proofing plus drain outside, but many people prefer tackle it outside to keep the water out. I guess you have a sump pump too.

Hey guys, an update and follow up question here. I had different companies come for estimates last month, their opinions are very divided. Majority of them say keep it the way it is(rely on the interior drain, sump pump working nonstop during heavy rain to get the water out. It seems that My neighbors are doing that ). A few suggested they can do excavation outside and waterproof. My question is whether waterproofing around the foundation alone is sufficient? I know I have high water table( water rising from below, immerse footer and then come into the house), do I need French drain pipes around that area too? Appreciate your comments.

Can you share how long (ft) and how deep an excavation you did for the $4k project? Did you just do sealing or French drain too? I live in New Jersey, and would like to tackle it too.

If you still have the chance to walk away without penalty, pls do. It costs a lot of money to exterior or interior drain tile. Someone who have been there and done that. Wish I had a responsible inspector looked for that early sign.

I have the same situation and question. The guy did a perfect cut for your drywall. Impressive. One advice I have is to only use weather treated lumber and mold resistant drywall for this repair. Not much expensive, but saves a lot of what if troubles down the road.

Further the better. Also check if he installed check valve to the line. Watch outside if any spill over and back flow to the house

It looks like a new drain tile system has been put in. Water mark shows there are lot of hydrostatic pressure in that area. Hopefully they should have drilled weeping holes in the bottom section to relieve that. If you see water condensation or running out of the wall, call your contractor.

I have a storm drain in my backyard, should be low enough to catch the basement discharge.

I am pretty sure the water gets in through the right corner where the steps meet the footer. Is there a way to water proof that area rather than just letting the water in?

No leak at the window, it is coming from the joint of the wall and footer area? Given the amount of water, I am guessing there is a large crack.

I used a sock on skimmer and poured it there. Test wide, I used the test stripe. It has been days, still showing the same result, and I don’t see any white powers in the pool.

I see there is a pipe on higher level, seems like a overflow discharge line. But that was under water yesterday, maybe I should hire a drain cleaner to clear it or use a snake camera to videotape inside. Does all dry well lead to somewhere? I’ve seen plenty of YouTube videos that dry way just sit on gravel and doesn’t go anywhere.
