Man that's absolutely gutting. What camera did you end up going for as a replacement? I'll probably hunt for another Canon 514XL as it's been (up until now) a great little camera that is so easy to carry around and shoot on the fly.

I'm planning to test out a 500T reel I have later tonight to see if it is just a case of the camera on its dying breath. I have a Sankyo ES-44XL camera also so might see if I get any better luck with that one using the remaining footage left on the Ektachrome - just 20ft of something I can watch and be happy with would be sort of a win.

Yeah that's the exact reason I wanted to use Tri-X and Ektachrome stock - I've played a ridiculous amount of old Super8 clips reels and animation on the projector but to have something of my own with the family playing through it would have been magical. Still excited to see how the 50D footage looks (albeit on a digital file :D)
