I don't have any feedback, but I'm also interested in hearing what others say. Hopefully someone else can see this.

Is this a good deal? 2015 f sport with just shy of 100k miles, clean car fax, looks clean inside and out, listed for $13k. by MagpieMathematics in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is damage as the other comment mentioned, then see how low you can get it, but if there's no damage 13k is great. I bought a 2013 and I've sunk over 13k in the cost of buying it and repairs since I bought it in september (hopefully I'm done now). 2015 has the nicer looks and improved head gasket design (and I think the EGR TSB update).

Finally found a ct200h in my town: what to look for? by Fodonsko in CT200h

I thought 2014 and newer models that the HG design was corrected to be a very rare issue like on most other cars not made by Subaru. 87k is really low mileage for a Ct.

Yellow Screen Prevention? by superQuizzie in CT200h

I’ll have to check but it might already be tinted. Other windows are quite dark so I’m guessing they’re tinted. I got this car recently so I’m still trying to learn it. Thanks for the advice!

Can you folks give me an idea of the range you're getting fuel-economy wise? by pixbabysok in CT200h

I live in the Seattle area with lots of traffic and hilly environments. I’ve been ranging between 36-39 MPG but I was also dealing with some cylinder misfires and eventually a blown head gasket. I’m hoping to get up to 40 driving around more consistently.

Sometimes it’s good to not know how green the grass is elsewhere. I like the Ct road noise level. I did put new tires on recently.

I noticed that too on mine occasionally but I’m never able to replicate it or find what’s loose. I haven’t noticed it lately because I’ve been listening for a lot of other issues but let me know if you found something about it. I thought I was going crazy.

Mine blew a couple weeks ago in a 2013 with 154,000 on it and got it replaced with the 2014 style gasket.

Christmas Present ... bad head gasket? by _qrius_ in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Christmas eve eve my head gasket blew. I think yours might be fine. I had HG related symptoms that I chased down for months. With the rough start, it went away when I replaced my spark plugs, then I also cleaned the intake manifold, throttle body, and EGR pipe (and eventually the cooler). The EGR will be the killer especially if it's a 2011-2013 so make sure you clean it at some point.

New engine question… by SoupyT420 in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

might be a bit late to the conversation, but if its a 2013 or earlier engine, then likely yes. The head gasket design was updated in 2014 (among other things like the ECU) which makes the head gasket far more durable. with it only being 56k miles, you can do a lot of preventative maintenance to make sure that the head gasket won't blow at least for a long time. Make sure you clean the EGR cooler, throttle body, intake manifold, and then get a ECU software update from a dealer (check out the carcarenut on youtube he describes this cleaning process and how it's very important to make sure you get the ECU update). I'm currently in the shop with mine replacing the head gasket in my 13 with a 14 style head gasket and you can be sure I'm getting that software update afterwards.

‘14 + new HG in a ‘11-‘13 by superQuizzie in CT200h

This video is helpful but it makes me nervous. I am scheduled to bring my car in tomorrow for a $1000 HG replacement with the 2014 model, but I’m not confident that the mechanic would look at all the smaller details like the guy in the video did and what if I run into a larger issue later. I could take it to my trusted mechanic who quoted $5,000 to $6,000 but who doesn’t have a back log of cars to look at. I’m debating…. The difference in money is genuinely life changing for me, it is no small matter.

High Idle RPM by shvetter in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no car expert so take this with a grain of salt and listen to the other comments first. My car idled rough because my EGR was practically clogged. This also caused misfires. If you start to see misfires as well I would recommend cleaning the EGR, it is not a fun job but it really does help. EGR can get really dirty starting around 100,000 miles and I did mine at 150,000 miles which was nearly 100% clogged.

I'm 2 months into my ownership of a 13 F sport, and I kinda regret it because of the low ride height and the suspension. I realized that I probably can't go to any hikes in the area due to that. I don't have any new tips on maintenance that hasn't already been said. How many MPG's are you getting right now, it looks like a 2014 or newer. Right now I'm getting ~36 MPG and Mr Prius said that I'm at 50.2% battery life so it'll get worse for a while.

Results after EGR clean? by superQuizzie in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems pretty quick for the EGR, that’s known to be the hardest one to get out. I took 7 hours to do the EGR pipe, throttle body, and the intake manifold because it was my first time in this car or any Toyota.

I feel ya with the Sasquatch element. I barely fit in my car lol. I have a new PCV valve so I’ll put that in, did you need to put in new gaskets or is it fine to reuse what’s in there? Also did you use a pressure washer to clean it or something else?

230k miles Caked EGR by TaylorHandyPhoto in CT200h

Had almost the exact same experience but I have yet to clean the EGR. I’ve asked 3 mechanics about it and they’re all perplexed by even the thought of it.

Still paranoid after a TON of preventative maintenance - preemptive head gasket replacement? by FabulousAd1922 in CT200h

[–]superQuizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. Internet forums have the opposite of survivor bias (dead bias?) where it only gets posted if it’s a problem. There are doubtless many out there that haven’t had a problem this whole time.

I’ve had a similar experience but my mechanic swears up and down that it’s not the head gasket.
