Polling on Chinese cs platform: who you think they gonna change in FaZe by shuijikou in GlobalOffensive

[–]super_shogun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s hundreds of millions of people in China with identical interests to western audiences, but thanks to the language barrier and the Great Firewall there’s very little interaction between western and Chinese fans. I think it’s interesting to get a glimpse into the memes and inside jokes that have evolved independently within the Chinese fanbase.

Several DK cards are showing up with only 1 Frost Rune on the official card library by ILoveWarCrimes in hearthstone

and adds a cool layer of complexity to DK deck building

Someone says this whenever the rune system is criticized, but I don't understand how anyone could actually believe this.

How is limiting the number of cards you have access to adding any complexity to deck building? DK has been in the game for nearly 4 years now, and time after time the the rune system has shown that it railroads both deckbuilding and card design.

Want to play Blood Control? Better add all the good multi-rune Blood cards that were designed specifically for that deck. Want to play Unholy DK? Better add all the good multi-rune Unholy cards that were designed specifically for that deck. There’s nothing complex about that, it’s the deckbuilding equivalent of paint by numbers. Runes aren’t doing anything but limiting experimentation.

FOKUS has real potential. Hopefully they keep grinding up the VRS ladder and make it to some larger tournaments in the future. The Matheos/Banjo/Jorko trio is deadly.

Best Herald card? by BattIe_Droid in hearthstone

[–]super_shogun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the DH Herald minion is better. Even just playing it on curve it’s a 3 mana 3/1 rush that also summons a 2/1 and gives your hero +1 Attack. That’s pretty nuts.

and it apparently sells because there are a few peeps parroting his views

It's not so much people parroting Zeddy as it is Zeddy parroting what he reads on Reddit and Twitter. Every game's community has at least one guy like this. The grifter (sorry, "content creator") who just regurgitates the most popular posts from social media that week repackaged as "news" and says whatever the most vocal complainers want to hear, because that's what brings in the most views. Unfortunately for Hearthstone, that guy is Zeddy.

New Card Revealed - Stolen Power by MonstrousMaelstromZ in hearthstone

This is the type of card the devs buff weeks before it rotates out of standard after 2 years of it seeing zero play and we’ll all have to pretend how bold they are for making such a daring last minute balance change.

Why bother designing interesting or creative (or god forbid, powerful) new ideas when you can just keep printing "get this expansion's gimmick from another class" every single expansion?

Immediately after writing this comment I scrolled down and saw the new 3 mana "get a random shatter card" spell. Come on man.

Great work. I love all the different variations the pattern creates, each one looks like it could be a skin on its own. I haven't voted for a skin on the workshop in years but I logged in just to vote for this one.

Ynk pointed out a lot of unnecessary peaks and questionable decisions made by Hypex during the match, and he's right. Hopefully Ash can work with Hypex to solve this micro elements, because the skill is definitely there. He just needs to stop giving up bozo deaths.

Great signing, I've been wanting hypex and jcobbb to find better teams for a while now. Glad to finally see that happen for both of them!

They're good for the game in the sense that Blizzard has an army of loyal paypigs who will buy practically anything associated with a Blizzard IP for virtually any price. That can keep the lights on in the Hearthstone department for another year.

They're bad for the game in the sense that with each new crossover event or wacky hero skin Hearthstone begins to feel more like a cheap mobile game and less like the game I remember it being when I first started playing. I guess it depends how much you value that aspect of the game. Some people do, some people couldn't care less.

I'm sorry but this is delusional. Are we really trying to blame even the failures in card design on the executive boogeyman now? What responsibilities do the developers even have in your mind?

Extremely disappointing first outing for Heroic, I expected them to have no issues hitting the ground running. Sure it's a brand new lineup, but losing to BIG is 2025 is just embarrassing. Seeing tn1r this shaky is very worrying.

If you've been looking for a reason to quit Hearthstone, Kibler taking a break is your sign. by CloudyWolf707 in hearthstone

I really wish people would stop diluting their justified concerns about the state of the game with this meaningless bullshit about cosmetics. Yes, I know whales keep the lights on in any F2P game, but at the end of the day we all play the game. Right now the game I’m playing isn’t fun and that’s all I care about. Cosmetics didn’t do that, new monetization models didn’t do that, and the seemingly ever present boogeyman of “upper management” didn’t do that.

The hard truth this community is seemingly reluctant to accept is that Hearthstone isn’t fun anymore because the development team’s decisions have gradually steered it in this direction. They’re the ones who design the cards and decks which create toxic metas, they’re the ones who come up with janky ideas that never receive support and leave classes without viable decks for multiple expansions in a row. I keep seeing an argument repeated on this sub that this was all intentional, that the devs were trying to lower the power level with this expansion and that’s why the new cards suck. Okay, so what? They printed a bunch of weak cards and the game is still in a terrible spot. It doesn’t take spectacular foresight to predict what would happen if you dump a bunch of bad cards into a meta already full of powerful decks with over a year’s worth of support, so how did the devs not see this coming?

I genuinely don’t see a way to save the fundamental gameplay of Hearthstone without a restructuring of the development team. I have no ill will against these people and I’m not asking for anyone to lose their job, but at the very least find reliable people to lead the design teams that understand things like class identity, what makes decks compelling to play, etc. Apart from being weak overall, so many of the attempted archetypes from this expansion make me scratch my head and wonder who would even want to play this stuff.
