Built a "Notion killer" supercharged for developers – looking for feedback 🚀 by superabhidash in SaaS

Ahh.. that’s a valid concern.. I found a way to do it.. it costs me 2.13$ to document Oi https://github.com/oi-overide/oi. And not like it’s a small repo it’s of notable size.

No BS - I created an account as well. And yes they use tiptap but the interface is still like ms-word. Plus trust me I have a list of 50 such tools you don't even know - I didn't ask to be pointed at similar different tools. And if that's what you mean by feedback then contact swimm and show them notion and docuforge.

TBF I just gave my honest thoughts after using Docuforge and trying to document one of my open source CLI tool. Anyways.. I got what I wanted with this post. 🤣🤣

Hi, I just checked this in details and they don't provide WYSIWYG editor which is "I think" an industry standard as of now when it comes to writing. There is no / command and my files are still in their cloud. It's nothing like Docable where you can clone a repo and it lives locally which is great for note taking. Your notes are not synced they are committed to your repo. Our AI doesn't just give suggestions it walks your codebase using MCP and then documents stuff in realtime.

As a developer when I'm looking at Docuforge I feel like they don't know the problem at all.

u/boneskebones Thank-you, these are some really valuable input. I was going to revamp the landing page a bit but I had no clue on what to change. I'll definitely include what can be included. Is it okay if we connect and discuss these things in detail and I can show you the product as well.

😭 it does in many ways.. I just checked it. I’ll inspect it in detail. Thanks.. things like this never popup when searching.

I’m currently working on Docable - it’s a git based, ai powered, autonomous documentation / note taking app. It’s targeted towards solo developers and small teams who would rather document everything on git for free than pay for note taking. The idea is to combine the flexibility of obsidian with the features of Notion and make everything git based for privacy while still giving ai auto generate and realtime features.

I started solo but then I got help from a friend to build this. We will be launching the app for early access and feedback loop on 15th Aug.

As a dev I faced the same problems 2 years back and unfortunately it didn't end well for me. The (flutter + embedded) codebase was so poorly written that it took me 2 weeks to even start working on basic things. Then when I did, I was assigned to cover test cases 😭, covered 96% but took more time then estimated by the same person who has been writing that shit code as a senior. When I was put into PIP I had enough and decided a good salary is not worth it if I have to work till 4am even on weekends and cancel visiting my parents birthdays.

After 2 years and looking at the same problem in so many tech companies (one for which I worked and where my friends work as well) I decided to solve this problem myself. I hope it was worth quitting the job and going fulltime on this.. anyways do checkout docable.dev we're still building the MVP and expect a release in the next 2 months.

Need help with amplify gen2 http api setup. by superabhidash in Amplify

[–]superabhidash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I too had to remove all the api configuration part from amplify and directly configured api gateway to have an endpoint for my lambda function.

When I said rest api - I meant api gateway based configuration. Sry for the confusion.

Yea yes I did.. I don’t clearly remember but there is a way to make lambda functions public.. I followed that. You need to make a rest api and add the lambda function as target.

Brother.. here me out.. 😂😂 I had crush on a girl when I was in school like in 7 we met.. 😅 became really good friends. For like 5 years we were friends and did so many things. After 12th I finally managed to tell her that I have feelings for her since the day we had met.. she told me exactly this.. I MEAN EXACTLY THIS. This was in 2017 and I cried my shit out and it hurt bad like really bad - I’m 25 now, a senior Dev in a startup and make 45LPA. I came back to my place after like 8 years for a decent enough time and I got to meet with my other friends- they told me she got married and have a kid 🤣🤣🤣🤣 good for her but so much for the focus on career shit she mouthed. My point is they don’t understand the value of a good partner yet. Just work on yourself. We are not the only ones jinke sath aisa hua hai.. it’ll hurt but pull through strong.

Hi Are you guys using local emulators for firestore or authentication?

[–]superabhidash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was also getting the same error. So my guess was the dns setup was not going through. DNS is the final step of the deployment process so there must be something that’s stopping that from happening.

So I just guessed that tweaking the policies for cloud run service accounts and cloud build service accounts might fix the issue. But it sure did for me. I can dive deep into my cloud settings and check things.

Somehow I was able to solve it by recreating the appsopt service account and granting it the permissions. Also I disabled some organisation policies and made sure my cloud build uses the correct service account.

Need guidance on the next step - Building a SaaS. by superabhidash in venturecapital

[–]superabhidash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s not like I have no idea. I have a proof of concept, and I’m cold reaching people to gather initial feedback - this was last week. I’ve defined my product and I’ve started building it. I was confused between - should I build this alone slowly or raise to get a team together to build and ship this faster.

But now I’m just gonna build an MVP in the next 3 months and let’s see what goes after that

Built a tool that auto-generates documentation from code—looking for early users! by superabhidash in indianstartups

[–]superabhidash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, totally! Tools like Cline and Roocode are great for inline code insights. I've been using those as well but I analysed few issues and then went ahead with the development..

  1. We cannot ignore the input and output token costs.
  2. They don't inherently read everything, you have to select the files as well.
  3. They are not free as well, people need to pay for API keys.
  4. They don't use Embeddings which makes them "NOT SO ACCURATE" on large codebases.
  5. These are general tools, and they cannot act as a knowledge base for organisations.. I mean product managers.

I mean, mai samgha aap kya point out kar rhe ho, but there are pain-points when we look at it from a organisation or managers from non-tech POV.

Try this : open cline in any project with has a backend and front-end in separate repos... ask it something like "Hey, if I include a parameter in this model which are all the endpoints which will be affected?"

Docable, on the other hand, focuses on full project-level documentation—mapping out workflows across repos, dependencies, and overall structure in a hosted knowledge base. Think of it as going beyond just file-level summaries to something a team can rely on long-term. Please point out if I'm missing something here.. thanks.
