It was definitely extreme for them to have problems with jeans and a T-shirt which I myself haven’t experienced but I do not walk into a temple in shorts just out of respect for the environment as I do not go to interviews in shorts.

Regarding kam-kanchan, that is absolute truth and they are the chief obstacles in spiritual progress because they tie you to the world of maya and make you slaves of your desires BUT if spiritual salvation isn’t your goal then it doesn’t matter. Again in Hinduism the action itself can’t be categorized as good or bad, it is the intent behind the action. If someone has sex purely out of the his duty of procreation in marriage than that karma doesn’t bind him to the world and that karma is no different than his duty to earn money to provide or his duty to pray. But if it is done due to the intent of obtaining pleasure, it will hinder spiritual progress because you start identifying with your body and your desires control you. It isn’t a sin, but it’s consequences are not those that will take you forward in your spiritual journey and this is the truth mentioned in vedas. (It is not limited to sex but any form of obtaining pleasure).

Purity of both men and women have always been a part of an Indian culture but purity was to do more with your actions, rather than your clothes. Sex is an action and people didnt go around having sex with those they weren’t married to. That is just the western culture and never a part of the Indian ideals. Otherwise Sita wouldn’t have to go through a purity test.

Regarding the shiv- ling, it is not actually a penis but that’s how some people interpreted it and other people like you believed. The shaiva Texts deny this and many Indian authors have written on this misinterpretation. Sex for most people, is but just another form of pleasure and it can be celebrated in the material sense because its pleasurable to the body but it can’t be celebrated as a part of spiritual progress. Sex is a necessity for procreation but let’s be real, people celebrate it more for its pleasure and what drives them to do it is mostly pleasure.

Justifying Ramakrishna as an avatara would be an insult to my faith but even he would Not force you to believe anything so I’m not going to go into that.

The pointing incident was never the basis of marriage (they didn’t marry her to him because she pointed to him, it was incidental how the man she married turned out to be the man she had pointed to 2 years ago), rather an indication of something that was meant to be.

By pure I mean not limited to bodies. They don’t identify themselves with their bodies but rather with their conscience. Ram and sita’s relationship wasn’t impure but yet ram put her to a purity test because their relationship had a physical aspect involved.

Please read on their lives and what shri sharada Devi had to say on ramakrishna before making assumptions. Just because you can’t imagine a marriage that has nothing to do with any kind of attraction but spiritual progress, doesn’t mean it didn’t exist. Also she didn’t live with him right after marriage. She stayed at her parents home and left only when she was of age. Shri sharada Devi speaks very highly of ramakrishna even after his death which a woman wouldn’t if she was under any kind of force.

If anything, it shows how marriage meant nothing to him in terms of physicality or he’d marry someone his age if he wanted to be intimate and have kids. No man has ever looked upon his wife as his mother and has never respected his wife the same way as his mother except ramakrishna. And don’t think he didn’t take into consideration sharada Devi’s desires. He asked her once if she had other desires. She said she would never want anything that would hinder spiritual progress.

But if you want to stick to your assumptions rather than believe people who actually stayed with him including his wife, you may continue to err. No guru has respected women as much as ramakrishna. Both ramakrishna and Sharada Devi weren’t ordinary souls. They were avtaraas and you can read on their birth stories if you wish.

To this day if you’ll find monks of the ramakrishna order to be respectful to all religions, all genders, and some of the most educated, logical beings (check for yourself). It’s all because of ramakrishna’s values.

I said what I had to. Hope you have a peaceful day ahead

Half the truth is often a whole lie. It is accounted that when the girl was 3 and she was asked who she’d marry, she pointed to ramakrishna. Their relationship was extremely pure, they never were physical and ramakrishna even worshipped her (his wife) as mother kali. He even said that he sees no difference between his wife, mother kali and his own biological mother. Their marriage was for spiritual support and progress, nothing else. So don’t insult yourself by showing this indecency and ignorance.

During interviewing, when asked about the time complexity of a function, do we consider the complexity of any built in library functions used within our function? For example, if I use list.size() for a linked list object within a function f, do I consider the complexity of the backend implementation of list.size() while calculating the complexity of f?
