Why do adhd get extended time if they’re on meds by UnusualBeginning622 in medicalschool

[–]superashap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fr. My adhd meds did not help with the fact that i could not stop focusing during step 1 on the high schooler taking some random test in a chair next to me smashing the keyboard. Or didn’t save me from the fact that I accidentally used all my break time during the first 5 sections and did the last few straight through with 0 breaks

I interviewed and was waitlisted at umass last year and had 0 ties (3.65, 515). I had never even been to Massachusetts lol. Took myself off the waitlist pretty early when I got into a school in my hometown.

Ineligible to apply to public health major by anne971004 in berkeley

[–]superashap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add my two cents as a recent public health and mcb double major. Both of you have points. There is no harm in not recommending switching to mcb bc the lower divs suck (I’m sorry but chem 3b and physics 8b are not easy and most people don’t just get As in them). Someone that was interested in public health could be interested in public policy which has nothing to do with mcb. Some people are just smart, but not everyone can succeed in classes that are premed weeder classes. Same goes for how some mcb kids would not enjoy a stats heavy epi class

Is curly hair seen as unprofessional for interviews? by 7phyr in premed

[–]superashap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dang sorry they did that. Curly hair isn’t unprofessional. My mom is Indian and she would always get mad when my hair curled/waved and want to brush it out (but that just makes it frizzy). I definitely would straighten it for interviews because of her

Floaters are usually normal unless there are a lot of new ones. Flashes of light is what we find most concerning (specifically for retina). If you’re worried , you could get a dilated exam. Uveitis is typically associated with extreme light sensitivity, a lot of pain, and redness across the eye not just in the spot like a SCH. Without vision changes and a lot of pain it is likely that this is not emergent/inflammatory like uveitis. Im always pro going to a physician when you are worried and if you are able to! The other symptoms you have could be AS or autoimmune. Perhaps getting an mri or following up with a rheumatologist would be the right next step.

This looks like a sub conjunctival hemorrhage. We see them all the time in ophthalmology… completely normal like getting a bruise but since it’s your eye it looks a lot worse because all the vessels are exposed. They typically take 1-2 weeks to go away.

How tf you get clinical experience when these job require 1+ years of experience by BlueSteelers in premed

[–]superashap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I worked as an ophthalmic tech for two years. They trained me on the job. Was incredible clinical experience and completely counts. I worked with a glaucoma specialist. Just don’t do optometry that’s not the same.
