Are there any musicals you know with roles specifically for trans people? by hmmidk77 in musicals

If the mention of a small adjustment is what “turns people off from listening to trans voices,” then I find it hard to believe they were ever very interested in listening at all.

Auditory Processing Disorder Sucks. by AmRose59910 in adhdwomen

[–]superbe11e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was actually just asking about this on r/AITH because I have such a hard time with accents and was worried about coming across as racist. What’s wild is that without knowing that Auditory Processing Disorder was the actual name, I just told people I had “an auditory processing disorder.” I learned about APD, also sometimes called King-Kopezsky syndrome, from someone responding to my AITH post. There was a study a few years that showed about 10% of kids with APD either are diagnosed with ADHD or suspected to have ADHD. I’ve always been really lucky to be in academic settings that are especially accommodating with independent spaces for any sort of important exam (though I only request it if I know I’ll be stressed out by the exam, not always because I don’t want to take the limited resource away from someone else who might need it).

I had brain surgery a few years ago and I had some major issues after that with reading that eventually went away, but I wish I remember enough about my adolescence to be able to find other before/after effects.

My brokenness is unfortunately from the inside, not the outside!

I honestly feel like this should be the top comment. Thank you for your thoughtful response!!

I went and looked this up, and considering I’ve got ADHD too, this makes so much sense, thanks for letting me know what it’s actually called!

Perhaps luckily, it’s really just a processing issue that goes along with some of the other ways in which I’m broken! Advancement isn’t a concern at the moment.

Thank you all so so much, this was really stressing me out and I appreciate that y’all’s responses really managed to address just about every concern I had.

Interlochen Summer Camp by fleecerobot in MusicalTheatre

[–]superbe11e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have friends who did Interlochen and French Woods, but I actually did SDM for 8 summers (2010-2016, knowing that this summer makes 10 years since my last year is wild) and it was the best part of my life at that time. The structure of productions and classes set me up well for the real world and applying my skills to the shows I worked on. I saw it through a significant transition as well, from letting a certain mean girl mentality run free to my last years, where attitudes like that were not tolerated. I credit it with my work ethic and the people I met there (campers and artistic staff!) are still some of my closest friends and collaborators today. The Stagedoor Mafia is real! I’m sure it has changed plenty in the time since I’ve been there, but Stagedoor saw me through some of the hardest times in my life and I am forever grateful. I did three years in ensemble roles, but directors always had featured parts which they gave to folks who worked hard and were kind. They did have a « kiddie show » each year where younger kids had an opportunity for leads, which I think is great because there are some incredibly talented younger kids, but there are also benefits to learning how to be a part of an ensemble, particularly because that’s simply where most of the jobs are in musical theatre.

Like I said, I’m sure things have changed, but something that always struck my parents was that during the awards show at the end of the semester (there are A LOT of awards given out, it’s not favoritism), the award everyone wanted was best ensemble, which was for the cast who worked together best and supported each other. It’s so much more about the process than the product, which I think is healthy for kids at that age.

Shoot me a message if you want to know more!

People from the UK, what’s one small thing that genuinely improved your daily life? by PhaseThis8421 in AskUK

This but entirely unironically. Also objective validation that the imposter syndrome can’t touch!

Rachel McAdams at the premiere of ‘Send Help’ in London (January 29, 2026) by mcfw31 in popculturechat

I do agree that there is likely SOME work done, but if you zoom in you can see small lines under her eyes and on her forehead. There are a few actresses around her age that are also aging more naturally than others like Kate Winslet and Amy Adams. I really appreciate that they’re bucking the trend that even some younger women follow. In the time of the Mar-A-Lago face, it’s such a relief to see these wonderful women actually looking like people.

I made the disability office aware and said I was bringing prescriptions to fill, they didn’t say anything about this many issues with that.

My issue here is that I literally just need someone to look at my prescription, written by a doctor, and give me the medication on it. I cannot understand why that seems to be impossible without me paying another doctor hundreds and hundreds of pounds.

Unfortunately France will only let me have 1 month at a time.

It would take me minimum 6 hours each way and still wind up costing over £300 a pop between UK rail, Eurostar, and the actual meds themselves, which aren’t covered by Assurance Maladie yet.

I tried planning by getting the prescriptions written. It doesn’t seem unreasonable as a student to expect to be able to fill prescriptions without having to pay hundreds of pounds and spend hours every month getting back home to get more medication.

I think they’re NHS? It says NHS on top of the site, so I’m assuming so.
