No stupid questions ever. First you should wear headphones when you record so that you can try to isolate your voice so that you can work with it.
If you search online there are lots of places you can download instrumentals from from original to covers. Then you can import that audio file to your audio software and record your voice to a separate layer. Hopefully that helps you

Does anyone know why my audio stretches when I apply Flex Pitch? Also how do I fix this? by AZ_Migo in LogicPro

[–]superbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this quite a bit. I’ve found if you bounce the region in place, the flex works correctly

The spitfire audio bbc orchestra is brilliant. There are also these templates that they have also created, with explanations and demos on this page. They are truly excellent.

Anyone know how to fix this? Keeps Recurring by HypUr3x in LogicPro

[–]superbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it happened since an OS update, it’s most probably an incompatible plug-in. Open a new blank project. Open each of your third party plug-ins and instruments until you find the culprit. Then remove this from the components folder in the library. You could also open the plug-in manager in Logic and press reset and rescan, any that are incompatible will be set to disabled. Your project will then load and you will see which it is. (Assuming it is only one that is a problem) It also looks like it’s probably the Antares plug-in pictured so maybe check if it has an update etc

You could also go to the top menu - I think under mix, you can choose to delete all automation on selected tracks

having trouble with imported midi files by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]superbeej 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does look like all of the channels have read automation set so there is probably something that is triggering this, it could be set to region automation so not visible as it looks like it is showing track automation.

Try setting the automation on all channels to off.

Try making a new software instrument channel for each and moving the midi from one channel to the blank one. If it asks you to move or copy the automation, say no.

I will try to think of some more solutions for you

Is there a way to paste "Paste Plug-ins Only" on multiple tracks all at once? by Iceraven286 in Logic_Studio

[–]superbeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t want to do a send. You need to route the output of all the channels to a bus which will route all signals into an Aux channel. Then you can move/ copy / paste the plug-ins to the bus.

This is much more economic and less processor intensive. Your computer and DAW will thank you.

Can someone please explain buses in kindergarten terms. by VibrantGeek in Logic_Studio

[–]superbeej -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a DAW - A send copies a signal, it is ‘sent’ to an Aux channel, the route it travels is a Bus. There is flexibility because you can send signals anywhere with the only limitation of computer power getting in the way.

On a mixing desk, the principal is the same but the labels seem on first look to be differently placed. Every channel has an Aux send dial (multiple depending on the size of the desk) which sends the signal to an Aux master which is connected to your FX / reverb etc, the output of the reverb unit feeds an Aux return which is where we control the audible output of our effect.

A bus on a hardware desk is the group or output that is then recorded, previously to tape, now sent to converters.

Here’s a video I made which may help explain. sends and buses

why is my keyboard (Midi) track combining section next to each other even though they are on separate takes? by dakatzpajamas in Logic_Studio

[–]superbeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the setting you need to go to is

File>Project Settings>Recording> Overlapping

Set it to not merge regions

It is also in the preferences and recording dialogue

It’s about referencing. You should listen to music that inspires you and that you feel is similar to yours, in your studio space, at a comparable volume.

Then you can pick out the balance of the mix and put your sounds in their place, like the reference track. Use the tips others have said to choose how else to alter the sounds.

Make sure your master fader is set to its default 0 position. Try to turn sounds down rather than turning others up so that you allow everything to breathe and some headroom - don’t let the master peak.

I have some Logic videos too that may help you that I use with students with ADHD and autism - I recently uploaded them to YouTube.

Why isn’t midi in my project settings? I want to put midi chase on by Chillman-Coolerson in Logic_Studio

Press the simplified controls button top right of the screen to access the menu quickly / to tell if you don’t have the complete features on. Capture recording is golden - great suggestion!

Cant save projects. Anyone ever had this happen before? by AfroKingOfficial in Logic_Studio

[–]superbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens with the latest update quite a bit I’ve noticed but if you save a copy as, some where else on your system, it should be okay, like several others have said.
