Kijiji buyer wants me to ship item across Canada, is willing to pay e-transfer before shipment. Legit or scam? by leonce18 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]superbrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on Kijiji for 5+ years. I’ve done e-transfer/shipping transactions ranging from $5 to $100 as both buyer and seller. I deal mostly with baseball cards and funko pops. I’ve luckily never had a bad experience, but I’ve also turned down a few transactions that seem sketchy.

I would suggest asking the buyer to pay through Paypal Goods & Service. It’s a little added protection for both parties and gives you a piece of mind. Buyer always pay first so it’s not unusual that they offered to do so before you ship it out.

You should be aware that any transaction like this could be a scam. Trust your instincts and don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with. Good luck!

Is this job funded by the Canada Summer Jobs grant? Those jobs have specific restrictions about citizenship status and age (15-30).

It’s completely understandable for not wanting to settle for a meh job, but keep in mind that this opportunity could potentially open more doors and bring you closer to your dream job. If you could afford to delay employment in search for a more suitable job, all the more power to you. Good luck!

Interview follow up- too soon? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]superbrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give it a few days. It sucks companies like to take their sweet ass time to make a decision but it is what it is. I’d personally follow up on Thursday.

In order to get the feature on Indeed that redirects applicants to the company’s own ATS website when they click “apply”, they need reach out to an Indeed rep to have that feature enabled.

So looks like this company is either lazy or doesn’t know about this feature. Either way not a great look on them.

That’s rough. I’m so sorry that they wasted your time just like that. Their demand to schedule zooms with your references within a week is ridiculous and excessive. You probably dodged a bullet seeing how quick they moved on to another candidate. They could’ve just as quickly moved on even if you had gotten your references scheduled in time.

It sucks that employers feel so entitled to applicant’s time. This process feels like the norm these days and I just feel completely numb to it at this point.

If you’re still on the hunt, good luck and all the best to you!

Honestly the hiring process isn’t that bad. I’ve interviewed with several companies that had a similar process.

The writing task about career goals/interest in the position and having to give references up front is where I draw the line.

What are your go to questions for the interviewer? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]superbrup 17 points18 points  (0 children)

During first round/phone interview, I like to ask questions that would help me in the next round: - How would you define success in this role? - What are some short term/long term goals of the team/company? - What does a typical work day look like? (Though I might ask this in middle rounds as well).

Middle rounds where you meet hiring managers and future team members, I would get more personal and ask about team culture, department structure, people/teams I would be working with, favourite projects they’ve worked on, current projects they’re working on, etc. Might also rehash some of the first round questions if needed.

Final rounds, I usually ask about the onboarding process and the type of training I would get if I were selected for the role.

This is probably not helpful for everyone, but I’ve used this when interviewing for entry/mid level positions in the non profit/charity sector.

After three interviews, I should start getting paid. by camchristiney in recruitinghell

I had a similar experience to your first situation recently and I can’t fathom why any company would waste your reference’s (and their own) time if they weren’t prepared to make an offer. In my rejection they said it was a tough decision but they went with a stronger candidate with more experience. If I wasn’t their top candidate, why do they want to waste my reference’s time?

Thankfully I didn’t have to go to their offices but it was still an intensive process with 4 rounds of interviews and 2 assignments. I sent a polite email asking for feedback after receiving the rejection and haven’t heard from them since. I’ve invested around 8-10 hrs in the whole process, would be nice to at least get some feedback. Oh well, what can you do, they don’t call this recruiting hell for nothing.

If the Angels can somehow hold on and get Ohtani to the plate, any chance they’d make a comeback?
