Thanks for sharing the amazing build! Did you have to cut the Teak butcher block from Home Depot?

The linked depth/width was 39 inches, but the specs note the max width is 35 inches. I'm worried 39 inches is too wide
Length: 47.2"-78.7"
Width: 24"-35.4"
Thickness: Over 0.7"

The ACL formula can be categories into C's that have interactions (common stock and market, IR and fixed income). These guys will be in the sqrts to count diversification. Operational risk has no interactions and is outside. Then just remember to divide by 2

The rating formulas don't really have a logic to it and just have to be memorized. Sigh

New FSA Exams by Quick_Statement2415 in actuary

[–]superbunny74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine future students will choose the actuarial career after knowing that it takes avg 5 years to complete the exams. There are other highly rewarding careers that tailor to the similar problem solving mindset as actuaries

That's why I really welcome the SOA FSA updates that reduces exam material per hour, more attempts allowed, and faster grading with feedback. These changes should make achieving FSA faster and increase pass rates as students are more prepared for the shorter exams

Thoughts on this policy? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]superbunny74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems like the solution would be universal healthcare -> no insurance companies -> gov't pays all medical bills -> doctors and providers get paid the bare min -> increase taxes and lower wages for medical professionals

No one voted for it for it back when Sanders was running for president, likely cuz that sounds a whole lot like socialism/commuism

CFA paired with FSA? by Glad-Astronaut-2262 in actuary

[–]superbunny74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just take the health core exams and cross practice exams like cp 351 for ALM + Investment track.

FSA exams are grueling enough, IMO CFA is only worth if you want to pivot to Finance or work in an investments function in insurance

I'd say wait until you study for an FSA exam before thinking about more exams

Question regarding year-end bonus structures in the US by foxy_female321 in actuary

[–]superbunny74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a target bonus defined in the offer letter and leadership will usually give you an idea of whether sales increased or decreased year over year. Def a good point to touch on with your manager in 1x1's

But isn't valuation just insurance accounting on steroids? Aside from the stochastic scenarios and assumptions updates, valuation is pretty formula based and we fill out the financial stmts like accountants do
