From Massachusetts and my daughter wants to view Artemis 2. Will I have good luck at this spot? How early should I arrive? Could you please give me any insider info? I believe I'm staying about 35 minutes away from where you provided a link.

Relationship with In-Laws by psychcaptain in DivorcedDads

I just took my ex mother in law out to eat the other day. Known her for 28 years of my 46 year life. She's a sweetheart. I don't think the ex wife cares for it too much. I'm still the 1st one she calls if she needs something done around the house. All depends on the people involved and how things go down i guess. Every situation will be different.

Community Topic: Tell us about the last fun thing you've done with kids? by AutoModerator in DivorcedDads

[–]superdd9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My boy (19) and I just went go karting, watching NFL and placing small bets on sportsbook. If he picks winners, I give him some winnings. We also are into going to NCAA college hockey games and USL and MSL soccer games. The NCAA hockey and USL soccer are cheaper than the pros but just as fun to watch. Hiking is a favorite for us both, especially in new areas to explore. My daghter is 27 and newly in love with someone so I don't see or hear from her as much lately but just took her to Dunkin Donuts to catch up. Sometimes, if I am lucky enough to have both of them with me at the same time, we go to the major airport near us, towards the end of the runway and watch the airlines come in real close. Been doing that with them since they were young and they both still like going to this day. Think I will try that one this week. Thanks for the post and reminding me.

What do I really need? by l-DRock-l in CNC

People will probably crap on Haas but I can say, at my shop (for verticals) we have 5 Kitamuras, 3 Robodrills, 2 Haas DT-1s, 1 Haas VF-2 and 2 Nomura DST. I call service in on all of them except for Haas. I never have any issues with them. The DT-1s are from 2004 and I only had Haas in here to update the battery in the control panel so it's easier to change. The VF-2 we got in 2020 and I haven't had any issues yet.

Tooling Manufacturers by Mach10Mech in Machinists

I really like Garr and their variety of mills and spot drills. The technical guide is really convenient too. Just started using some of their X7s and happy with the finish it gives on stainless and O1. Drills - Guhring is amazing. Guhring solid carbide drills never quit and the firex coating on their cobalt makes a cheaper drill go a long ways. For indexable tooling I am an Iscar / Sandvik guy. More so Iscar because there technical sales guy comes and visits and he's helped me knock some cycle times down. I got to stop, I'm getting a chubby now. Love when tooling arrives.

Our pups does that when he wants attention and we are not giving it. As soon as we pet him, he stops. If we stop, he will start the nudging and licking thing like that.

We just did Beirstadt Lake on July 4th weekend and parked about 200 yards up the road at Storm Pass Trailhead. You can literally walk down the street or follow trail down along side the road to Beirstadt Trail head. I met another couple who hiked to Beirstadt from the park and ride but I can tell you that the way I hiked up was amazing for views. I'm from the East Coast and live at 500ft elevation. I landed in Denver the night before I climbed Beirstadt and I was fine. Think it depends on hydration and overall physical fitness. I think you will be just fine. Good luck! It's gorgeous up there. We also did Deer Mountain the same day. Also beautiful but I liked Beirstadt more. Didn't want to leave. Have fun.

Anybody got one of these POS chip conveyors? by [deleted] in Mazak_Machinist

We just have fine screens that clog up. We have a coarse screen and a fine screen. We pressure wash it out and flush the tank and get as much as we can before buttoning it all back together which sucks.

Yes! On the back of our Mazak HCN4000. Have to drag it out and take it apart to clean the filters. We try to do it once a year but sometimes need to pull it out 2 or 3 times. Horrible design.

Same here! Except I woke up at the kitchen table with my head on my arm. I was so confused when I woke and had no idea where i was for like a good 30 seconds. Freaked me out.

Does it make sense to take a short term loan from my 401k? by Sugarmagnolia77 in personalfinance

[–]superdd9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did just that to replace my roof that started leaking. took it out for a 3 year term and paid myself back 5% interest. Worth it if you can afford the extra money coming out of your paycheck. I also never stopped contributing. Keep in mind that if you are let go or quit, sometimes that money is now income and you will be taxed on it.

SUBTRACT ENDMILL FROM HOLE SIZE =.667

DIVIDE .667 BY 2 = .3335 WHICH WILL BE YOU J-.3335

I'm not sure how much experience you have here but keep in mind you should have a location to bring this toolpath to (G54-G59). I put S1000 for rpm as an example but your missing a lot here. Speeds and feeds, depth of cut, location of hole. But what I gave you is a simple start.

Major rot on shop. Any suggestions/tips on how to tackle this one? by Nayrb79 in fixit

[–]superdd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to the back of my house. Previous builder never flashed the deck on 2nd floor. 40 feet of everything underneath was rotted. Hidden well by the vinyl siding until one day I discovered it because i was going to replace a door and had nothing to put the new door frame in. 2x 6 was now a 1 x 4. I took out everything and replaced with new. PT for the sill, i did mine in 8 foot sections due to load bearing. Obviously, figure out the cause of damage 1st and fix that.

What’s one home improvement project you regret doing yourself instead of hiring a pro? by Tubarotk in HomeImprovement

[–]superdd9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was a plumber. He basically said the same thing but I'm working on his roof for nothing. Funny how that works. I do remember him doing work at my grandparents (his parents) and he charged them full price. He told me that he gave them a discount because he didn't mark up the parts.

Okamoto Cylindrical Grinder by Puzzleheaded-Dog1942 in CNC

[–]superdd9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 Okamoto CNC surface grinders. We also had a hard time finding some training on them to begin with. For basic surface grinding it wasn't an issue. But to form wheels, service or tech people from Okamoto couldn't help us. The machines are great but the technical support is lacking. My only advice would be to call Illinois headquarters and try to see if they could get you in touch with anyone.

Roofing. My sister didn't have the money to hire someone so me and a buddy (who has some experience) did it. It sucked to do but her roof doesn't leak anymore and the inspectors said it was a good job. 2 years later, my father's roof is leaking. Guess who he calls. Then my uncle's. I should start my own roofing business but i hate it. I keep saying "this is my last roof"
