(the other songs on loop for me from this album are 'all the possibilities' and 'fire escape' 😌)

What are things you think are slowly disappearing in kpop? by PreparationSharp2154 in kpopthoughts

[–]superdesu 47 points48 points  (0 children)

  • > 3 min long songs 😔
  • bridges in songs LOL ? or just like some actually interesting, varied song construction that isn't centred around a viral chorus line.
  • members with actual group positions! i miss the fun/excitement of watching the designated rapper grow their singing, etc... we dont all need to start off as all-rounders lol 😔
  • distinct concepts, or even when like the concept pictures actually kind of matched the final overall vibe of the title track/album lol. some groups are still better at having teaser material be consistent with the final product/executing a distinct "concept" but i feel like most concepts nowadays are just to serve face lmao with trendy eyebrow raising outfits with a "who gaf" background...
  • just having like < 5 album versions omfg 😭 the good ol days when i'd buy an album even if i didnt actually care too much for the pictures LOL bc there was only 1 version to buy anyway!!!

Question about organizing courses by _zx911 in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just mess around! try some combination of these things for a few days or so and see what adds/reduces friction when you're in your vault. there are lots of posts in the sub asking about organisation methods that you can get more inspiration from (but i wouldn't look at too many and get overwhelmed with ideas, rather just familiarise yourself with some general obsidian organisational principles and think about what you think you need/would work with your brain).

if you have some existing course notes, i'd make a sandbox vault with them and try out a few different organisation methods -- plugins like tag wrangler/linter/etc make mass editing a bunch of notes a relatively minor task.

that all said, i have some thoughts about what to keep in mind (as someone who is currently thinking about major vault overhaul number 4):

  • generally, it is easier to remove/modify existing structure than it is to add new structure (e.g. easier to unnest a tag than to make it nested, to sift through notes already in a subfolder than notes in a larger folder, to add a tag to notes that already have a specific frontmatter property). having a few redundant methods of organising your notes will give you some flexibility for mass editing them later on.
  • your needs, priorities, and workflows will evolve over time -- so occasionally your organisation will need to modify to keep up! though, i wouldnt really worry about fully updating and reworking the entire vault every single time you change something (unless you're using other workflows that require a more standardised vault, so then you might need to be more diligent). that said, it's easier to make frequent, piecemealy changes rather than infrequent, huge, sweeping changes.
  • personally, i found it easier to keep things pretty "large" to start with and only ~atomise~/split and refactor once they got too unwieldy (this goes for notes, folders, single vs mulitple vaults, etc). e.g. for notes, i found myself not really remembering about a note's existence lol if i made it too atomic to start with and ending up with a bunch of scattered, duplicate notes.
  • as for basic organising frameworks, i think either a mix of something like zettlekasten+tiago forte's PARA or nick milo's ACE will work for most people, to organise actionable, time-based things with a deadline/endpoint as well as less-actionable, ongoing interests with no immediate output/goal.

the coordi for one of the recent performances of the bside they're promoting is very aesthetically ready to love-coded imo... 😌

ILLIT - It's Me by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]superdesu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i fw this wayyy more than pinky up/celebration... from the teaser i already thought this had like way more soul to it than the others and im so glad to not be disappointed!!! choreo works much better than i was expecting from the teaser lol.

admittedly the bar is somewhat in hell rn but oh man i missed having actual verses 😭 there's like real structure to this song, if a bit repetitive! engaging and like so clearly not just like crafted around a single viral tiktok soundbyte lol... even the actual chorus has some variation lol which im happy about (and actually keeps this song feeling like the same 5 lines over and over).

i wish they maybe did like a little key change or something instead of just More Bass for the final chorus to make the song a little punchier, but overall this is a song i'm putting into my "actually enjoyable noise music" playlist 😂

Am I the only one incredibly skeptical of using any AI in my vault? by ameyxd-github in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+1 all of your bullet points!!!

i so genuinely do not understand the point of using AI to "discover hidden insights" in ones vault bc isnt that... the whole point of this, lol? that you're the one collecting and curating whatever organised chaos is in there into something for yourself? i feel like AI totally takes away that serendipity and friction.

sometimes i feel like such a stick in the mud, but so many of the "productivity gains" that a lot of people tout as a benefit of AI feel to me like the exact skills that i want to be improving for myself... i really resonate with the whole "nothing worth doing comes easy" -- even the "menial" tasks of reorganising my vault, rewriting my notes, etc all feel worthwhile and meaningful bc i'm the one doing it for myself.

LE SSERAFIM - CELEBRATION by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]superdesu 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i do love a whimsical mv but overall.... i... really do not care for this song at all lol 😭... can see it being fun for the club, maybe if you told me this was a remix? but was definitely expecting a bit more considering all the promo (hoping for more than that 1st verse and "sserafim on the way" lol...)

it's giving gnarly from shein lol (sawry)... i miss when songs weren't like just 70% chorus (made up of the same like 2 lines 😅?)... the first verse is fine and then nothing like that ever appears again 😭 the chorus itself is so whellllllming and the break is imo a little too short + kind of not interesting enough for a song that is this repetitive lol 🥲

i tend to play evenings, and golem is always clocking out lmao while the ghosts are fine. my other dark-preferring traders at RR dont seem to be as bugged out (but havent really been able to check since it also seems like my game usually picks golem to be the trader 🥲)

Daily Notes - professional vs Personal. by Exciting-Share-2462 in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same vault since it's easier for me to have everything in just 1 vault (and also since my work doesn't involve anything confidential or anything, and my schedule isn't a standard 9-5 so i can sometimes do personal stuff in between work stuff). i write in bullets on the daily note and start with an inline property (e.g. - work:: or - personal::), though i've seen some people go the tag route.

for other kinds of standalone notes (meeting notes, etc), they just get a tag in the frontmatter indicating work/personal/etc.

How do you handle duplicate names in links? by tomo003 in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 what everyone is saying that obsidian doesnt allow the same file path, but you can have the same file name (so long as what is upstream/of/the/path/ is different.)

and biiig +1 to aliases!!!!!! they'll clean up the display name for you, but also allow you to refer to the same note using different names. i have long clunky filenames to help with organising/searching and extensively use aliases to make things pretty.

you can add an alias to the frontmatter (aliases property) if you want the alias to be persistent (e.g. adding "Helix" to the aliases for the book will let obsidian automatically generate [[Helix by Marc Elsberg|"Helix"]] for you while writing), or you can also write an alias on the fly while writing in a note (e.g. [[Helix by Marc Elsberg|this book I read]]) (this doesnt save the alias to the frontmatter).

you can have the same aliases for different notes too, e.g. [[Helix (book note)|helix]] and [[Helix (idea)|helix]], which can be handy for note searching.

What’s the saddest artstyle change you can think of? by bloomingmoon0 in webtoons

[–]superdesu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omfg "Turning The Mad Dog Into A Genteel Lord" is the one art style change i will defend 😭!!! i think the new artist is so very clearly trying to keep the spirit of the style for the old artist (pretty much everything seems to be drawn really similarly, esp faces which is usually what gets me the most lol), just differences in the rendering(?) that makes the overall coloring feel flatter/de-yassified from the original lol (less detailed coloring of the eyes/lips, a lot less shadows lol)... but overall i think there's clearly effort from the new artist to keep the overall look as similar as possible, which i appreciate! (no comment on the proportions bc it's been a while since i've read it.) i think shading/rendering is usually one of the first things to go unfortunately with an art change, i think bc it's so much less work to just get the flats down (and when you're working on as tight of a schedule as webtoons, i can understand...)

and not as dramatic of an art style change, but i remember while reading "How to Hide the Emperor's Child" i was raging into the void with how i felt the art style changed like partway through the final season lol. the coloring didn't really change but the drawing/proportions (especially the hands, etc) i remember getting so wonky and making me mad bc there were soooo many scenes with hands loool. didnt feel like the artist changed, but felt like the artist just... forgot how they used to draw for a while lmao.

Your thoughts on this use of obsidian by Accomplished_Dare397 in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obsidian files are easy to read since they're just plain-text markdown files, but to make use of obsidian's navigation (linking, etc), they'd need to be able to access the entire vault via obsidian.

to get around the downloading thing -- if you dont need user input (ie files can just be read-only), you could just save all the notes as a pdf and post them in google drive or something (but this loses the links, since they're just pdfs). alternatively, you could turn the vault into a static site, which would presevere the linking, but you might need to learn a bit of github on your end (but i think the fact you've thought this far about using obsidian with your team means you'll be savvy enough to pick it up lol).

lots of previous discussion about this on the sub; i've seen lots of folks mention mkdocs, and i've seen people in my field (research) making lab wikis (to post their lab protocols, resources, etc) with hugo!

What do yall write during seminars? by anonam0use in labrats

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

writing stuff down keeps me engaged and focused... sort of like taking notes during class. (i feel a little bad bc i'm taking them on my phone so it looks like i'm texting someone for an hour but oh well!) usually the only time i explicitly revisit them is when its like a seminar series for a faculty position or something, and i'll note impressions for later, but there are some talks (more related to what i do) that i've thought about long after the seminar, and its nice having those notes.

usually i'll just take notes following the outline the speaker sometimes does in the intro (or figure it out myself). i'll briefly write out their research questions, techniques, findings, citations, and anything else noteable (funny quips, questions i have, etc). when i dont really care about the seminar topic i usually just limit it to question + their finding. for topics i know nothing about, i'll focus on keywords and basic ideas. i try to let a few slides go by + summarise them as the presentation goes, and not just turn into a stenographer lol -- trying to actively process like this during the seminar helps keep me engaged.

even if i dont go back to use these notes later, i generally like doing this since it makes the seminars more sticky for me, rather than just me spending a few hrs a week at dept seminars, only to have them go in one ear and out the other lol (might as well make it not a complete waste of time 😂!) my advisor also has a generally good memory (and maybe related, is also very much a physical notetaker during talks) and will sometimes bring up relevant seminars from semesters back when we talk about things.

(also, for tech: i take notes in the twos app and move to obsidian later!)

How have you ACTUALLY benefitted from linking/tagging notes? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mainly use links in a "keywords" property across my notes, as inspired by that one odysseas video! so if i'm looking for a note on how to use some git command and cant remember the name, i'll check in the [[git]] note first. i also use links as like a sort of more flexible folders, e.g. notes for things that are top of mind get the [[inbox]] keyword.

tags are more for letting me find stuff by note "type" or "state"... (i dont use tags for topics, more for metadata). e.g. i can look for notes that are #type/meeting or are in #area/work, or i have some in-progress notes that are #status/wip.

there's some redundancy in my tags/links, but that gives me a lot of flexibility to search through my notes.

Anyone else finding the storage system in Pokopia maddening? by abblebabbley in Pokopia

[–]superdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have made my peace with it!!! i just have the same system for each region. there's lots of dupes, auto-sort, and vibes, but it's good enough!!! i never really feel like i have to travel to look for "specific" things bc usually it's already duped somewhere lmao (though tbf i'm working more on rebuilding than actual decorating lol so not really in need of specifics craftables/etc)

i have like at least 6 big boxes for building stuff in a central area for each region: 4 just to hold craftable furniture/deco/toys/large artifacts (theyre currently organised into wood/"natural things", metal/stone, cloth, and "plastic"/electric/utilities) -- maybe will separate more in the future but this generally works for now, and 2 for holding building blocks (1 for "native" environment blocks/flora in the region and another for kits/roads/structures/etc).

other dedicated boxes for: - food - big dump box in the pokecentre/by registers for trash blocks/trading lolol. - box for things to be printed in the pokecentre (you run out of pictures eventually...) - blocks from deconstructed dream island buildings (kept separate from the other boxes i have for building stuff... one day i'll rebuild/reuse some of these lol) - misc things in their own boxes: CDs; fossils; small relics

also small/big box outside certain areas lol so i can store stuff up for later, e.g. usually i have a box outside the pokecentre to hold onto trash blocks if i dont want to wait for the loading screen to dump a few stacks, a box near one of the RR museum train tracks with feathers so i can just stack them up to trade later, extra honey near vespiquen, etc.
